Maybe they should just call it the Star Wars Emmys

The 60th Primetime Emmy� Awards were announced (http://cdn.emmys.tv/awards/2008pte/60thpte_noms.php) and there's plenty for Star Wars fans to root for.

Both Family Guy and Robot Chicken Star Wars-themed episodes were nominated. And Carrie Fisher got a nod for her guest spot on 30 Rock. And with all the Star Wars references on shows like Lost, The Office, The Simpsons, Grey's Anatomy, The Colbert Report and even things like Dancing with Stars, maybe they should just consider renaming it the Star Wars Emmys.

The only glaring omission is Billy Dee Williams's guest appearance as himself playing the villainous Cobra on Lost .

Go Seth Green...Go Carrie Fisher. ...maybe they should just consider renaming it the Star Wars Emmys. heehee...cute. I guess one could say that Star Wars is alive and well.

date Posted: Jul 17, 2008 2:26 PM Don't forget Chandra Wilson of Grey's Anatomy! I know it doesn't have the crossover geek appeal of other shows, but ya gotta give Dr. Bailey props for her famous Star Wars speech! I gave up on Lost a while ago... so did Billy Dee play himself, or GI Joe's nemesis? Or both? With that show, anything's possible.

Added the Grey's reference (which I didn't see but heard about).

Unfortunately, Billy Dee was on during the low point of the season - the "Nikki and Paulo" episodes. But he was perfect for the short-but-sweet role. He played himself playing a Charlie-like character on a Charlie's Angels-like TV show (Nikki was an actress on the show) but the huge twist at the end of the series was that he ended up being Cobra who had been the group's arch nemesis. Lost didn't pick up until the last group of episodes, but man did it pick up in a big way.

And I don't want to talk about anything GI Joe right now.
