The Battle on The Bridge - Celebration Europe 2007
The date was Saturday the 14th of July 2007.

The place was the Excel Arena, London, England.

The battle was immense - and I was there - on the bridge - fighting.

It started as an idea - why not create a mock batle with all the people who had lightsabres. In fact - why not film it.

So it was organised and so it was filmed - by Lucasfilm.

We may never see the film - we may never relive the moment in HD - but we know we were there.

If you were also there - then get in touch, keep in touch - let me know what thoughts ran through your head as you charged across that bridge.

I'm listening.

I've heard a lot of rumblings about LFL filming fan events such as this... hopefully that big documentary isn't just a rumor!

Even if LFL isn't showing it yet, which I would think/hope they would post a clip to the video page of this site at some point, other folks video taped it, and it's been around the web a bit. I have it at one of my blogs, it's at Club Jade, and TFN. :)

Unfortunately its not the best nor longest clip of you. I am imagining it was much more intense. What a blast! Maybe more fan video will pop up. If I find it, I'll tell ya ;)

One things for sure, this will go down as one of the most Epic non-official FX battles this year.

Well, the whole thing lasted about two minutes, but there were some of us (ahem) that got a bit carried away and just kept at it, and at it and then missed the photo call afterwards (damn).

Anyway, hope you all enjoyed what was a fantastic blast of adrenaline and fun.

I'm thinking of designing a special patch for those of us that took part - so please let me know who you are and pass on this blog to others so that they can do the same.

I have just been looking through YouTube and there is much, much more there than I would have thought. Guess it took longer than four minutes...lol

I was on the ground, and it was my most thrilling Star Wars event ever! It looked so cool with the two groups - sith and jedi - as dark shadows charging against each other, screaming and with sabers raised.

A guy claiming to be from Lucasfilm was there filming - but is this confirmed? If true i'm sure they will release the film here on star wars.com for other fans to enjoy. And Master Replicas will love it:)

Well - the best thing - Peter Mayhew was there watching and cheering to!

Thanks so much for doing this. I hope this will start a new tradition for fan events!

Peter Mayhew? Nobody told me!

Wish I had managed to get his autograph, one of the true gentlemen actors of his time - very polite and friendly. Great guy to interview as well...

I'm thinking of doing a memorial patch, if anybody is interested....

Yea, Peter Mayhew was sitting all night at one of the cafe tables next to the river, just relaxing and having a good time. He is indeed a true gentleman, and is giving a lot to the fan community. I think thats why everybody kind of respected his privacy.

Me and my friend (MasterHubba above) were watching the whole scene from below and got a lot of pictures, both during the fight and after at the 'photo session'. So we were there, but not in the fight. Anyway - I would be very interested in a badge, if you make them available to all who was at the scene. Peter should have one to:) It could be fun to make a list of all who was there. I will share my pictures and post a link here when i find a place to put them.

Yeah, and needs to be done again - but with more people next time - say a hundred?

Hey, now there's and idea.

Pass this on - anybody that lives in England and has a Force FX lightsabre (preferably battle hardened), get in touch.

And I still want to hear from anybody else that was there... I'd like your thoughts to include on the Lightsabre website (www.lightsabre.co.uk).

Oh, and many thanks to whoever it was that came up with the idea - it sort of escalated...

hi guys,
for those of you who remember me, i am the guy who was running around telling everyone to get their lightsaber on to the bridge, and got the madness organised!
i am STILL overwhelmed every time i look at the event on youtube. you guys were amazing!
also, steve sansweet's wife was looking out of the window and saw it, and called steve to look too, so he came over to talk to us, and also got interviewed by the camera crew.

again, thanks for such a mad night, it was amazing.
