Was the Jedi order as "Good" as it made itself out to be? Did they work for the greater good or their own best interests?

Look at the facts:

1) they led a Clone army in what was clearly a series of agressive battles
2) Mace Windu was clearly prepared to kill Palpatine
3) Qui Gon's choice to defend the Queen of Naboo caused the discovery of Anakin - which ultimately cost Billions of lives...
