Looking out the window of my Jeep I see a neon light, glowing red and blue, the sign tells that the store is open. My mind regesters the shimmering lights...what do I think of? Obi-Wan Kenobi and Count Dooku's lightsabers clashing above the machinery in the Invisible Hand. The electronic clock next to me glows with a greenish hue. They are small little numbers, what do they remind me of? Yoda's swinging saber as he flies into action.
I look up into the skies at night and see the stars gleaming in the distance. What comes to my mind? That wonderful galaxy far, far away. My government teacher says that everyone who gains power is afraid to lose it, and, well, I just can't ignore that obvious quote from Palpatine to Anakin. I write it don't in my notepad. Ha! I'll have to tell my family that my teacher is Palpatine. I hear about the brave actions certain people on the 10 o'clock news and my mind relates them to heroes such as Obi-Wan, Anankin, Mace, or Luke. Sometimes, and I know that every fan does it sometimes, I like to do a bit of roleplaying. I like to see which Star Wars character my life relates the most to. I've done some thinking and found myself to be the most like Luke.
Why? Well, years ago when I strted this blog I didn't have much respect for Luke. He seemed like a little whiner to me. But as I've grown, I've found a new respect for him. Luke was practically catapulted from his ordinary life as a farmer (or whatever Owen did?) into the galatic spotlight. So many things changing for him, he had to adjust, and grow up. I've found myself facing the same issues. Well, I'd love to say that I've been thrown into the fame spotlight, but I haven't...sadly.

But this is my senior high school year. I've got a lot to look forward to and a lot of responsibility to take. I need to prepare for full time college classes, to know that I'll probably be moving to a new city to take college classes at Texas A&M in about 2 years. In addition, I'm working part-time. I must say that I really loved the old life. You know, getting up at 8 to do school, and then coming home to basically play Xbox. But times have changed.
That's why I relate myself to Luke. He was put into a life of change and he handled it fantastically. He came out on the top. That's my goal, and I hope that I'm well on my way to doing just that!
I suppose that once you have been exposed to Star Wars, it follows you everywhere. Everything you do, see, or hear, can bring your mind to Star Wars. I've always thought that Star Wars is more than just a movie, it's a lesson, something everyone can relate to. It's fun being a fan, and the movie can actually teach us a lot. It gives us role models. There are many things that have influenced my life greatly. The Bible, my family, and Star Wars.
One of the greatest things that I've learned from Star Wars is persistance. To always look ahead, to accept the future. My history teacher once told us a quote that really touched me. Not sure who said it, but I think it really captures the essence of Star Wars, "Live every day not as if it is your last, but as if it is your greatest."
well, there's some of my thoughts, hope you enjoyed them!
May the Force be with us all! God bless!
