Treasure in the Trash
Today, y'all will never guess what happened, I went to a garage sale. It was huge, there were clothes everywhere and in the back there were tables full of bits and pieces of stuff!!! There were buckets full of just miscellanious stuff.

My brother and I went in there and started looking around. Then I saw something! My eyes slowly read it, yes, it was a VHS that said Return of the Jedi. I already had a VI DVD but as I looked at it I became saddened. This precious movie had no cover. It was just lying there on a table. I took a moment of silence and then found a glimer of hope. I thought, "If this is here then maybe I can find more Star Wars stuff.

As I walked along a found a small Vader backback, and a ripped up Darth Maul lightsaber. I once more felt sad for the single bladed Maul saber. I thought, "How could peolpe just rip up such a special toy?"

I walked somemore and then what to my wandering eyes should appear? but a Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper armor lying deep in a box. I was overjoyed and then I ran to it and embraced it (well, actually, I just ran to it) and then I showed it to my brother. Better yet, I have a spare blue saber and now he can fight Vader! Woo-hoo!

I was so happy because I had been looking for a cheap Luke forever, and now, admist the trash, there he was!!!!!!

I also found a lightsaber hilt, (with no blade) and I bought it too. I am starting a transformation experiment on the hilt. I will paint it and make it my own. I'll let y'all know how it turns out. And, we found an huge birthday bag with Episode I characters on it.

Has anybody else ever found treasure in trash? If so, do tell your stories.

May the Force be with us all! God bless! (like my new avatar? It is of 3PO as a Sith, for he is the ultimate Sith, http://blogs.starwars.com/huo2459iuS/16)

I'm constantly stopping at yard sale's and flea markets looking for stuff. Last week on the side of a rural highway I found a Watto ep1 eraser still carded, 2 Spider-man figs, a Batman fig and a Rapheal Ninja Turtle that's over a foot tall. My daughters love the Turtles so I was a bit of a hero. And before you ask yes they Love Star Wars too:D

Just recently I started looking for Star wars action figures and other stuff like that at garage sales... without much success I might add.

Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper armor

Lucky!

Not in the trash but at a garage sale... it wasnt much just an R2-D2 Kids meal toy that opened up and had a little princess leia toy inside of it (Btw it wasnt one of the Kids meal toys that came out last year in celebration of ROTS it was from the 90's I think) and a tie with Darth Maul and Darth Sidious On it that said Darkside.

Cool story. I once found a black Ping golf ball with a Darth Vader mask painted onto it. I never knew they made those...

My Dad found an AT-AT once

That's awesome! Was it in good condition?

The best find I've ever found was a mint carded 1980 Stormtrooper I found at the top of the clearance bin in a KB toys. How it got there, I have no idea, but I was only 13 at the time and had absolutely no interest in vintage toys. I'm regretting that now. :(

I have a few harsh words for those garage sellers.

Well, actually, they were a couple of old people, thier kids probably trashed the toys. I would hold the harshness. In fact, I got all of that and more for only 3 bucks!!!!!

May the Force be with us all! God bless!

hey, look at it this way: if the toys were as "beat up" as you described, it just means they were played with and enjoyed, and now for whetever reasons no longer wanted, so they fell into YOUR hands as a fan who can take them and give them the new home they deserve.

I just bought a very old, very USED 1978 Death Star Droid figure at my local comics shop...the joints are worn & loose and the paint job very faded & scratched up, but for 2 bucks I bought him and gave him a home in my vintage figures display shelf.
