I need to know : Lightsabers
Hi y'all, MasterMonkey13 here, thanks to all of you who read my preivious and first ever blog. Now I come with a question.

Now we all know that the lightsaber is the weapon of a Jedi Master and is a weapon for a civilized age. But however cool and deadly these are I have but one question about them, how are they activated? I know that it's not the most important question ever but let's take a look.

I have a FX master replica Mace Windu lightsaber which I love:D , but it has a push switch to activate it. Now before you go sayin', "Well, a lightsaber must have a switch," let's look at some facts.

In the fight between Windu and Sidious in III, (which is my all time favorite duel) when Sidious loses his saber, we see a hilt with no blade on it flying away. A couple of minutes later Windu loses his hand (thanks to stupid Anakin) and his lightsaber isn't activated. I'm sure that Sidious didn't bother to turn off his lightsaber and I'm sure that Windu's hand didn't turned it off.

Now for some ideas,
1. Lightsabers are heat activated; whenever flesh touches the hilt the heat causes it to turn on. But, in Battlefront 2 and in KOTOR you can throw the lightsaber which cuts off contact between it and your hand. Plus, Jedi hold just their hilts a lot of times.
2. The only answer I and my brother can think of is that Jedi use the Force to turn it on. When lightsabers are thrown the Force brings it back. Yet Luke, in IV when he knows nothing of the Force, actives Anakin's saber.

If anybody knows how a lightsaber is actived please tell.

May the Force be with us all!

God bless!
