Episodes 7, 8, and 9? I don't think so.
Well, here I am and a thought pops into my head about future movies. Can there be an Episode 7, 8, and 9?

Well, I have discovered three great reasons that there can't be anymore episodes.

1. There have been many books written about the future after Episode VI. They describe the New Jedi Order, the New Rupublic, and the Vong war. Well, if GL decided to write new movies he would either have to........
Write the new movies purely about what the books say and thus be boring to anyone who has read the EU, or............................
Write new movies of his own mind and potentially disappoint and or anger fans with the movies that don't fit the books.

2. The EU books don't fit well with the story type of the movies, plus, GL would have to get completely new actors and hope that they slightly resemble Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford and that fans know who the actors are portraying.

and 3. GL says that there will be no more movies!

Well, I'm glad I got that out. So, I believe that there can't be anymore movies, even though we all hope that threre will be more. Agree? Disagree? Feel free to respond.

May the Force be with us all! God bless!

There will be no more movies until George Lucas says or until he gives the responsibilities to another person. But he is making that live TV action series.

You're right.

Oh so often to freinds of mine say "Oh well, you know there are going to be 7, 8, and 9, eventually."

And I always have to inform them, no. It's not possible. That territory is already covered. GL would not just make a movie out of, say the Thrawn Trilogy. He would make his own story that he wanted to tell. And it would completely contradict the canon material that already exists.

And which story would become the new movies?

And how would you convert a book into a movie properly?

And what about the actor situation?

Frankly, I'm hopeful of Star Wars movies existing in the future. I'd be excited for a KOTOR movie, and all that is is a distant hope of a possibility. But a new trilogy? One that immediately extends the existing one in the same episodic nature? Nu-uh. It can't and won't happen.

that happens to me too, it's rather annoying actually

i always answer with the answer NO there will NOT be any more movies

but they could someday make movies on the already written books, some would be great (thrawn trilogy, darksaber)

i see that you put bornjedi89 on your blog roll, good idea, he's on mine too, i think that he will become a good blogger

and THANK YOU VERY MUCH for putting me on your blog roll:D

God bless!

One more reason: GL said that the movies were about Anakin and his fall, and that story has been given a final ending.

and THANK YOU VERY MUCH for putting me on your blog roll

You're welcome.

People keep hoping for more movies because there is always that rumor. That rumor started when early on when GL thought he needed 9 movies to tell his tale of Vader. Turns out he needed only 6. GL has told his story of Vader the is nothing more he has wanted to tell.

I agree that there will be no more movies..sad...but I feel this is so :( As E&HF5 said, GL made his movies based on Vader's tragedy as the victim of Evil. The saga has a beginning a middle and an ending...that's it! That's all DA MAKER wrote.....ANGEL

Has anyone ever read what I believe to be a rough outline Mr. Lucas had written WAAAAY back when? It was floating around in the ether years ago, but I think it sums all of this up.

Mr. Lucas had worked an outline for 9 movies. Aside from some vastly different characters (like Obi-Wan, Luke, and Han being represented by one or two characters, and the main protaganist being a girl) the one thing that really stands out to me is that the Emperor never even appeared until the 8th or 9th movie.

Mr. Lucas has, I believe, told the main story he wanted (the TV shows are supply to meet the demand). He just managed to squeeze 9 movies down into 6....

this is why i don't read EU. continuity errors, no more story to be told from GL that will not confuse evrybody, and it's pretty much like a soap oprah (palpitine's still alive, evil luke and vader clones).

I have probably said this quite a few times, I don't much like the EU. I enjoyed playing KOTOR, and watching the animated Clone Wars series. But I don't much like the books after Episode VI.

May the Force be with us all! God bless!

Oh yeah, good thoughts everyone

Here, take your three reasons, then subtract the first two leaving you with number 3. That's all you need. GL has said there will be no more movies. Even if he did decide to make three more films, I doubt he considers EU novels to be in his way. Puh-lease, is everyone forgetting all the pre OT EU that came out BEFORE the PT? Most of that EU no longer fits in with continuity. I also doubt number 2 would worry Lucas either. Have you heard of Indy 4? It's the same Harrison Ford we're talking about. CON'T

If GL were to focus on the children of the Solos and Skywalkers, he wouldn't really need the original trio of Han, Luke, and Leia. It's not even like he [GL] would be worried about a scene with the trio sitting around, he can easily CG their less than beautiful features they may have.

sadly this is true! But personally I think the forget the 1,2,3,4,5,6 movies and Start like a series of movies on the NJO or something like that! Or the Thrawn Series or something! I know theres alot of people out there how are like," Nah the 4,5,6, are the best part of all the Star Wars Series!. But then theres people like me, who like movies 4,5,6, alot, but Think the NJO and the X-wing, Thrawn, Swarm Wars, JL are Way, way, way better. And because they are, no offense! but anyway i would like to see GL maybe step away from the orginals and look to the future of Star Wars movies. And because it would be simply the Coolest!

Well, you never know. They did it with Stargate, and that show's already on its ninth season.

i agree no more movies. what would SW be if GL had to base his next movie on the thoughts of another. no offense intended to Kathy Tyers author of "The Truce at Bakura" the book immediately following the Battle of Endor. there was a movie series called "highlander" where the 2nd movie did not follow the 1st movie at all, very confusing to say the least.

You never know...I was one of the ones who said that there's never gonna be an Indy IV, and look, now their planning for Indy V!!!

Also, how many people who saw that original Star Destroyer fly across the big screen would bet that there would be prequels?

So you see, we have to keep hoping for the future! At least, that's what my self-proclaimed Master Granny-Wan told me...;
