A series of unfourtunate events, well, in a way
Anakin's fall to the dark side was not just a simple fall, there were many deciding moments and factors in his life that led him to the dark side, many of these things were beyond his control.

Today we will look at a couple of these moments that if they had happened the other way, or happened a different way, would have saved Anakin.

We can start back on Tatooine, what if the thingybob that broke on the Queen's ship didn't break. And while there, what if Qui-Gon had enough money to pay Watto, story over. What if a freak sandstorm hadn't occured, and what if Anakin wasn't around Qui-Gon and the gang when it happened.

And what if Sebulba won the pod-race, everyone would be stuck on Tatooine. And what if Qui-Gon won Shmi's freedom and not Anakin's. And most importantly in Episode I, what if Qui-Gon had lived.

What if in Episode II Jango hadn't shot Zam and she told Obi-Wan who Jango was, it would have prevented the trip to Geonosis and stopped Anakin and Padme from falling in love. And what if Padme stayed on Courscant instead of Naboo, then Anakin would have been too far away from Tatooine to go to his mother and start his fall to the dark side.

What if in Episode III Anakin was ranked as a Master, would he have then been satisfied. What if he had no nightmares, would he have then saved Palpatine? And what if he was shown love, he could have been saved. And what if Anakin beat Obi-Wan, would he have then gone to fight Palpatine, and win?

So that is what I think sums up all of the carefully planned events to turn Anakin to the dark side. Who planned it all, Palpatine. Who executed the plans, everybody. Who made the chioces, Anakin.

Comments will be gladly welcomed.

May the Force be with us all! God bless!

(sorry, I have to go to a golf tornament right now, so I can't spell check)

That's a lot of "what-ifs"! :O !

Life's always full of what-ifs: "What if I would have went to USC instead of staying home to go to college?" I wouldn't have married my hubby and had my kids I have now (most likely)

And what if Qui-Gon won Shmi's freedom and not Anakin's What always bothered me about this was that Shmi's freedom could've been easily gained. Some Jedi mind tricks and some $$ -*poof* -free Shmi! But, I suppose it was to break Ani of the whole "attachment" thing, and not have mom hanging around to interfere with his training (as was the case w/other Padawans)

Nonetheless, it's fun to ponder the "what-ifs"! If not, what would we have to blog about, eh? ;)

Hope you had fun golfing! :)

" This was no CHANCE meeting " Qui-Gon in TPM
" He was meant to HELP you " Shmi TPM

You have alot of WHAT IF'S......Don't we all? Any hoot, Like Qui-Gon states in TPM them finding Anakin was not by CHANCE it was the will of the FORCE that brought them to Tatoonie. If this meeting would have happened then it would have eventually found a way....as Destiny always does...it finds a way.......ANGEL

As MO2YP said...wow, that's quite a few "what-if's".

Seriously, we all have those "what-if" thoughts on various situations/happenings. We really cannot change the past, but we can influence the future. As angel siad, it was the *will of the Force* that took them to Tatooine that day, that made them "find" Anakin, etc. If the events had not happened the way they did that day, I am sure they would have happened in another way. Destiny always has a way of working its way out.

Great thoughts!!

Well with so many "what if's" GL would not have a PT. Great "what if thoughts". The only one you mention that I thought about is Qui-gon not dying. :D

I don't see how the trip to Geonosis would have been averted if Zam had told Obi-wan who Jango was. If Obi-wan had found out about Jango, the Jedi Master surely would have gone to Kamino to see about the clone army. Jango still would have fled, thus causing Obi-wan to follow Jango to Geonosis.

The one factor that drastically would have altered Anakin's life (after joining the Jedi) was if Qui-gon had lived. Anakin's training would have been very different if the maverick master had not been slain.

What I mean is, if Obi-Wan knew who Jango was right as he meets him, Obi could've killed Jango right there on the spot before Jango and Boba could escape.

WOW that is really something. I've never thought of it that way. what if the thingybob that broke on the Queen's ship didn't break. really I get what you're saying. If it didn't break, then none of this would of happened. It is a series of unfortunate events! GREAT BLOG!!:D
