There's No Place Like Home
Hey guys! About two weeks ago I watched Episode III again. It's my parents favorite episode, and I can't disagree. It's got the best action, best special effects, plus, it's the only one that my mother won't fall asleep in. Yep, I don't think that she's seen all of Episode IV; and my grandmother? don't get me started...she went to the bathroom right before the battle in the Death Star trench.

But enough of my pointless ramblings. While I watched the scene of Anakin and Padme at thier home in Coruscant, and Anakin delivered his "so in love with you" line, it struck me.

Obviously, Anakin and Padme must have spent many days together, even though Anakin was a Jedi. Which brings me to the question...did Jedi have homes? From what we see of the Jedi, such as Yoda, Mace, Mundi, and so on, they are always seen in the Jedi Temple, no where else.

Anakin, on the other hand, appears multiple times with Padme in a seperate building. It's apparent that the building is some distance from the Temple, because Padme sees the Temple burning from a far distance. It's seems as though Anakin had a home.

So, if Anakin had a home, did the other Jedi? Perhaps the Jedi Temple had sleeping quarters, where the Jedi could rest at. Or, perhaps, they each had a little room, like Yoda. But, if this is true, how could the Jedi not sense that Anakin was married. If he left the Temple every night, the Jedi would have been blind to think that he was leaving for no reason.

Either way, that question has stayed in my mind. I think that the most likely explanation is that each Jedi had a small room. It would appear that way in some of the books I've read.

What do you think?

No profanity......May the Force be with us all! God bless!

A youngling's thoughts on (almost) everything star wars

yeah, they have their own little rooms i belive. I know the younglings do, because it describes obi-wan's room in the jedi apprentice seires ( or at least the room he had when he was like 12ish). they costomize it with decorations and model fighters, they could control temperature (some species need warmer or colder air to survive) and they study there, stuff like that. also, i know that the kid's rooms have a lot more furniture the the masters ( although i have seen a picture of Plo koon's room- such sweetness)

I was always under the impression that the Jedi officially resided at the Temple. However, many of them were hardly ever there. They were frequently scattered across the galaxy, and I think they made do with whatever quarters they were given, or what they could find. "Luxury" wasn't meant to define a Jedi's lifestyle (although given the appearance of the Temple, you had to wonder sometimes).

I believe the Jedi were given rooms in the temple to live in. But they were free to come and go as they pleased once they became a jedi knight. And it isn't actually Anakin's home it's Padme's, it's the same place from ep. 2 where Zam tried to kill her with the creepy crawlys. Anakin was away fighting the war most of the time so he wouldn't have spent too many nights with Padme and the jedi may not have noticed. I mean they didn't even notice when she kissed him in the arena on Geonosis

Yes, that was what I was going to say!

It's mentioned somewhere in either the novel of ROTS or in Labyrinth of Evil that Obi-Wan no longer had to keep tabs on Anakin's whereabouts after he was no longer an apprentice...

So, they live at the Temple, but are free to come and go as they please...

Well since the planet, Coruscant is one big city, how could Anakin go freely to his home every night and the Jedi would allow it without suspicion? If the Jedi Knight's have a home in Coruscant, it is possible right? And again the younglings can't go back from where they came so my best guess is: The younglings themselves have reservations in the Jedi Temple.

This really got me thinking and I hope more of these crazy questions pop-up.

Interesting. I have not read anything like that in a while. Well, i haven't read anything on this site in a while!

I presently don't have Hyperspace because I don't have too much free time anymore. But, I'll see what I can do.

Well, just a little thought on the whole the Jedi would notice him not being there at night thing. Well, if you read the Jedi Quest series, in the first one- not the one only titled Jedi Quest- Anakin usually goes out late at night to scrounge for spare parts in the underbelly of Coruscant. So his Master doesn't miss him too much and turns a blind eye to his actions, as well as the council. So I thought at least that might be an option in answering that question. Interesting question, ner vod, really, though. I do believe that if the Jedi wanted more privacy they were allowed to get an apartment, but I think most of them didn't want to. They were a family. Usually families like to stay under one roof, so to speak. Even the clones did. B-)
