Need Some Prayers
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've written a blog, but today I don't come with Star Wars. My dog, Scout, is in pretty bad health at the moment. Starting about 3 weeks ago he developed a pretty bad cough. Last week we took him to the vet and he had heartworms. Well, they gave him a medication and said to come back in a week. Over the weekend he got really weak so we took him in this morning and they said that they'd start treatment on Thursday. It seemed like an awfully long time to wait. Well, just about a hour ago he literally fell over and we took him to the vet. Then, just 30 minutes ago it happened again. The doctor now thinks that it could be congestive heart failure.

Anyway, I'd just like y'all to pray for him. He's a tough little guy. He survived parvo at a young age and overcame a 10% chance to live and an allergic reaction to the medicine. I'm praying that all will go well.

Thanks.

MTFBWY! God bless!

Will do.

Thanks. Prayers are more powerful than any type of medicine. It's nothing life threatening now, but it can become just that.

Any updates? I know you said they weren't seeing him until Thursday, but I thought maybe his health has already improved.

A little, he hasn't fainted any today, but he's been very still. We let him sleep in the house last night and he seemes to be better. He spending much of his time asleep but he's awake now. He is very alert and still loves to lick everyone; he just can't move around much. I know it must be hard for him; he's been an active dog his whole life.

As a note, he seemes to have a little fluid in his lungs. I found this out after I wrote the blog but it had been there for a few days. The vet gave him some medicine that should clear it up.

Anyway, thanks for all of the prayers. Of course, there is always the chance that the fluid build up is irreversible. But as I've said before, he is a tough dog and he's only 10 years old. Plus, God can do ANYTHING.

My mom is taking him outsde to go pee right now. I am very happy to see how many kind-hearted people there are on the blogs. Of course, I've always known that.

Thanks. I'll keep y'all updated if anything changes.

Thanks guys! I wish that he could see how much y'all care. He seems to be better. Inside, he is as strong as a young pup, but on the outside...he's sick. He's still learning that he can't leap onto beds in a single bound.

I hope he is feeling better now, dogs are just as much a part of the family as the human members and their pain is just as real....may The Force be with him and you, I wish the best and hope he gets better. :)

God can do ANYTHING.
Absolutely!! :)

Dear God, please be with Scout. Help him to heal quickly and be a testimony to the vets of Your power and love. Be with MM13 and his family, as well. Comfort them and let them know that You're in control. In Jesus' Name, amen. :)

Scout is doing a whole lot better. It would appear that he has an enlarged heart and perhaps one or two heartworms. The treatment for heartworms is rather harsh and the chances or him surviving in 50-50. Not the best odds at all. The vet seemed to be leaning towards just letting him be. He said to put him on heartworms preventitive medicine to stop any other heartworms and to keep him on a low sodium diet. The fluid in his lungs has cleared up, but the size of the heart is pressing against one of the trachea (I think that's what it's called, maybe it's a bronchiol) causing him to tire easily. (cont.)

The nights are rather rough for him but he's gaining strength at a rapid rate. I truly don't think that this could have been accomplished without all of the wonder prayers and good wishes. I wrote a blog immediately after his tests on Thursday, here's the link. And yesterday I also gave an update. Thank you all!
