Update on Scout
Hey guys!

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and kind thoughts for my dog, Scout.

So here's the deal, tomorrow he goes to the vet. They're going to run a series of tests to see what's wrong with his heart. We are fairly sure that he has congestive heart failure but the trick is finding out what's causing it. If it's heartworms, then it can probably be fixed. However, even surviving the heartworm treatment will be rough. If it's a different reason then we'll have to develope a different outlook. I'm praying that it'll be fixable. The fluid in his lungs is causing him to tire very easily. So...we'll find out a lot after the tests. I'm, praying for good results. He deserves to live a longer, better life. I know that he's hating having to sit still so much.

On the up side. His coughing has really died down and he is moving around more than on Monday and Tuesday. Last night he woke up at 3:00 in the night and Mom got up to check on him. She didn't get back to slepp all the night. She had to lie on the ground with him while he licked her face and hand. So she had a nap along with Scout today. She said, "That is why older people don't have babies." :^O Anyway, he seems as strong as ever on the inside, but his outside is sick.

My entire trust is in the LORD at this moment.

Thanks for all the support guys. I wish that he could see how many people care about him.

Thinking about Scout got me thinking about the GFFA. I wonder if droids were like dogs or cats to people in Star Wars. I wonder if they developed diseases like Rusted Wire Syndrone or Bloated Valves.

I'll be sure to update the blog later tomorrow.

Thanks.

MTFBWY! God bless!

People in the GFFA have dogs. They're mentioned in the novel of A New Hope.

I've had 2 dogs in my lifetime literally die in my arms. I hope that doesnt happen to you. The first had fluid in her heart and the second had a broken heart from the first dying and cancer.

Interesting thought, I'd probably have a "pet" droid.

My entire trust is in the LORD at this moment.

Good for you. He knows how you feel. And he knows what's best. :)

Hope things go well at the vet.

When I lived at my parent's house we had a king and nice dog that had to be killed by the vet because of a problem with no cure, to avoid him useless suffering. I remember having cried endlessly. My mother never wanted to have another dog because it was a terribe experience for all of us.
I wish your pet recovers as soon as possible.

I have congestive heart failure (as well as my congenital heart conditions). One major thing to do if the dog does have this is to avoid salty foods. I would check out his food and makes sure the sodium content is low. Ask about low sodium dog food wherever you buy his food (or ask the vet) and avoid feeding him salty food from the table (I know that's hard, I love feeding cats table food).

Here's the news, he definitely has an enlarged heart. He may have one or two heartworms, but the treatment is a 50-50 chance of life with 2 to 3 weeks in a cage. Sounds bad, so the other idea is to talk it over and put him on heartworm preventitive measures. However, he'll probably not be able to play ball again. :( But, for now it's looking okay and his lungs sound better! Thanks for the prayers everyone! It's a pretty good diagnosis.

My grandpa has that, coincidentally. Funny how the people or animals that are the nicest seem to get that.

Wow..... Well, God can still do miracles even when the odds are 3,720 to 1, so we'll keep praying! :)

Take care, and tell Scout hi! :)

Doesn't seem right does it? I'll be sure to say hi!

Very true.

We've already started a low sodium diet.

I have an enlarged heart, too, but mine is from a kind of surgery I had as a child (which also led to the congestive heart failure).

It sounds like you have some difficult choices. I will keep praying.

Yes, you all remain in my thoughts and prayers. Bless you for the update. I was concerned.
I pray that he's not in CHF, as well as the good Lord healing those heart worms.
Hang in there.
