I Have An XBox 360..........And You Don't!
Gloating. One of the guiltiest pleasures man bestows upon himself. I can't say I do it often, nor can I say I've never done it. The fact remains, I now am the proud owner of a new XBox 360, the premium one with the hard drive and such. I'm thrilled. I've been a gaming fan since original NES in the 80s, and I've come and gone. I skipped the SNES/Genesis Generation, then I went in for an N64. Then, I gave up on Nintendo & gaming in general before siding with XBox in 2003. And now, I have a 360.

I'm thrilled to own it, but it feels really special because I've never gotten any system this close to launch, which is about as close as it gets (unless you're one of those fools standing at 2AM outside the store to get a first-gen console that overheats and breaks down...it happened with 360, PS2, etc.). I'm looking forward to buying The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion this weekend, and I'll probably pick up Perfect Dark Zero as well to relive the franchise that takes me back to the N64 days.

But really, the most thrilling part is that I'm one of the few to have a 360 now. Most people that want one are still waiting or saving their money, but not me. It's like I'm on the cutting edge. You know the feeling when you buy a new game the first week it comes out, and doesn't it feel better and don't you feel cool to be owning the latest hot game rather than buying it a few months later? I know it's silly and juvenile, but many gamers get this excitement of buying new stuff near release.

Now, I'm sure plenty of you will be like...."360 sucks!".....I'm getting (PS3, Nintendo Revolution, etc.) which is so much better than you're lame system!" But I don't care. I'm not one of those "who has the best console" people. I have 360, and I love it. If you prefer PS3, and get as much enjoyment out of it as I get from my system, more power to you. We're all gamers, and we all have fun, no matter what system we choose. As long as you are individually happy with whatever system you have, why fight over who is better?

I'm no hardcore gamer. I have a job and a social life, and I spend maybe 20 hours a week gaming at most, but most weeks, especially in warm weather, it's more like 10. But that doesn't diminish how much I love it as a hobby. And boy, Halo 2, KOTOR & Battlefront II look so much sharper with the resolution upconversion on the 360. It's like they're new games.

So, while this started out as a gloat, it's now much nicer: "All of us gamers should just get along and not worry about whose system is better". While I prefer XBox and a friend of mine prefers PS2, it doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy Halo over my house or I don't enjoy God Of War at his. To each his own.

So spread the love and leave me a comment if you have a 360. If you're thinking of getting one, leave a comment too if you have any questions, and I'll get back to you, whether it's on backward compatibility, specs, why you need a hard drive,, etc....
