Be A Jedi In Real Life...Or A Sith
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a real Jedi? Or perhaps a Sith? Have you wondered what path you would truly follow had you been plunged into the Star Wars galaxy. Some of you would be quick to choose sides. But if you really explore the philosophy of the Light and Dark, you will see that there's not such an obvious difference, and that a blue lightsaber can be wielded by an evil man just as a red one can be wielded by a good man. It's all a matter of philosophy.

Some would point out that the Jedi and the Sith are as different as black and white, but that's not always the case. The path of the Light Side can easily corrupt a man, and the path of the Dark can easily redeem him. Blasphemy? I think not.

The highest purpose of the Light is to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to right injustices, to seek peace, to achieve harmony in the galaxy. Yet taken to the extreme these purposes can all lead to the Dark Side. When you seek a reward of fame for your good deeds, when you look to earn glory for your righteousness, that is a path to evil. When you assume the power to change events to "set things right" according to your point of view, that is selfishness, and a path to evil. When out of a desire to do good you commit great acts of darkness, that is evil.

But at the other extreme, when you hold to an ideal so fastly that it stops you from protecting the weak in order to not betray your principles, that too is a path to evil. When you value your philosophy over the lives and safety of others, that is a path to evil.

It is clear that the intentions of the Light can easily corrupt when taken to an extreme of action or inaction. But it can also be shown that the path of the Dark can lead to good as well.

When one acquires great power, but uses it in the service of others, that is a path to good. When one relies on their emotion and their human qualities, that can be a path to good. When one allows some suffering to occur so that those who suffer emerge the stronger, that can be good. By not always saving the weak, but allowing them to suffer, you allow them to gain strength to help themselves and become the better for it.

When one embraces the truths of oneself rather than trying to change them to fit an ideal, that can be a path to good. When one embraces his or her inner strengths, that can be a path to good.

The philosphy of the Sith is not an inherent evil, it is in the execution of the philosophy that good or evil is committed.

Regardless of Force affiliation, it is the purpose of the use of one's power that really matters. Darth Vader was not truly evil, and in the end, he proved it, redeeming all his evil acts by committing a single good act that outweighed them all. Jedi such as Exar Kun were not truly good.

Remember this in your daily life, and think about it. You can be a good person through either path. You can follow either way and walk a balanced life.

Sometimes evil must be committed for good things to come, and sometimes good acts can lead to evil. The trick is to lead a life of balance, and to embrace all of life's aspects.

Don't cling to a philosophy too rigidly, and don't assume a particular philsophy labels you or puts you on a predetermined path.
