Much has been made of the Prequel Trilogy (PT) vs the Original Trilogy (OT) and I am not going to rehash any of it in this Blog entry. However, I would like to broach the subject of the Clone/Stormtroopers.

In my opinion, the Clones in the PT are vastly superior and much cooler than the Stormtroopers of the original films. I know that will be "blasphemy" to many. There are some who would consider the notion of any element of the prequels being better than anything from the OT as patently absurd. But here we are...

I will go on record now: Clone Troopers are better than Stormtroopers. And in almost every way: The look cooler, they are more believable as military troops, and they can actually hit stuff with their blasters. Of all of the troops from the films, I would have the say that the designs and variety from Revenge of the Sith are my favorite. Perhaps it is because they are a simple amalgam of the AOTC clones and the OT Stormtroopers... or maybe it's really because they are the coolest looking troopers from any of the films and they have more personality (thanks to the multi-performances by Tem Morrison).

As for the variety of coolers and armor types... I'll admit that I did not like this at first (when we saw the different colors in AOTC). I felt it was too reminiscent of the Battle Droids from TPM and that the Clones sometimes resembled a bunch of Skittles running around. But the colors grew on me, and in the scheme of a galactic-scale war the different markings actually make perfect sense.

On almost wishes that Lucas would now go back to the originals (again) and tweak the Stormtroopers to add some of the color and variety of those seen in the last two prequels. "Blasphemy!!"
