My shiny new lightsaber!
Fourth of July is almost here, summer's getting in full swing, it's a perfect time to be sitting in my dimly lit room writing blogs and rewatching Star Wars movies. Speaking of that, I was finally going to try to watch all six movies in one day in order. I made it halfway through Attack of the Clones. Anyway, I own The New Essential Guide to Characters, and I was reading about Yoda in particular. I have learned not to trust everything books say, but it said that during his stay on Dagobah, Yoda helped orphans fight off pirate invaders or something like that. Anyway, he probably fought with a saber, but in ROTS, we see he loses his saber during his duel with Palps. Did he build another? Why didn't he use this new one to teach Luke? It seems that people are always rebuilding sabers in Star Wars.

Anakin builds first saber on Ithor, is destroyed on Geonosis. Builds new, near identical replacement. That saber is handed to Luke twenty years after Mustafar, but lost when Luke loses his hand at Bespin. Said saber is retrieved by Vader (along with hand) and put in his trophy room. Saber is stolen by Luke (but he has a new saber), given to Mara Jade. She builds her own saber, throws that 30 year old saber in trash.

Yoda builds saber 800 years ago, loses in duel with Palps, does he build a new one?

Obi Wan builds lightsaber, lost in battle with Maul on Naboo. Builds identical replacement, but throws it away two years later to build new lightsaber (since he is now a general). Dies in duel with Vader, saber taken by Vader.

See, everyone likes change. Change is inevitable (except from a vending machine).
