As we all (should) know, the Tusken Raiders wear protective cloth around their entire body, in order to protect themselves from the Tatooine suns. However, assuming the Star Wars Galaxy follows Darwinian evolution, why do they need them. If they are indeginous to Tatooine, which they are, by now they should have evolved enough not to require these garments. If you are fortunate enough to own the brand new book "Jedi v.s. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force", you will remember that in Anakin's biography, on pg. 212, there is an illustration of Ani meeting a Tusken Jedi. The Tusken is in their traditional garb, albeit fewer layers. Also, there is no distinct "rags" look, as if they are nice clothes. That led me to believe, and I think you will agree, that Tusken Raiders wear their coverings for enviromental protection, but more as a cultural tradition.
As always, I am open to your comments.
