Journey into the mind of a (wannabe) Jedi Master

The Scheme of Things
This blog entry (it seems like forever since my last entry) is about Palpatine's plan to control the galaxy (or, My Plan). Well, I was watching Episode III again (to you, the reader, it seems that all I do is watch and rewatch and rewatch the movies [you're about right]) when I began to think about Palps and his plan. Either he is a supergenius or extremely lucky, I haven't decided which (that is another blog entry, though). Why did he go to such great lengths to restore Anakin after the Mustafar duel? He certainly didn't try to stop the Dooku/Anakin fight or sew up Maul again. Or maybe that was part of his plan. He meant to test Ani by having him fight Dooku. Maybe Anakin (or the Chosen One in general [again, whether Anakin was the Chosen One is for another blog]) was his main goal, and he intended Maul and Dooku to be his henchmen in the meantime. Then Dooku changed uses, from boredom buster to test dummy. Or maybe Palpatine just rolls with the punches and got tired of replacing apprentices (you're fired!). I have racked my brain with this one, and could use some fresh ideas. (how many parenthesis can I fit in a blog entry?!?!?!?) I would love some more ideas. (here's one more). Feel free, nay, obliged to comment on this one. And I expect to see comments for more than two days! (for those of you counting parenthesis at home, get a life) Chop, Chop, do as I say!

Something to consider when you ask why he went to the effort with Anakin is that IF he didn't 'fix' Anakin, he would have needed to FIND a new apprentice - not an easy thing given he just wiped out the Jedi (an easy place to find someone to twist and mould). Also, I dare say Palpatine didn't have the TIME to train someone new. Yes, he still needed to train Anakin is the dark arts, but he did not have to start from scratch, nor did he have to do much (Anakin's anger and passion were strong without Palp's help).

Ha! You made me chuckle (laugh) :^O

I said it before (way back when) that Palpatine is the Ultimate Puppet Master. (insert evil laugh) He knew what would happen all the way back in his days as a Senator of Naboo. (although he couldn't control Padmé, [which I'm not sure he figured in]) But then again, was Anakin weak minded enough to fall under Palpatine's control? Ah, that's where he used flattery. He flattered Anakin every chance he got. ("I see you becoming the greatest of all the Jedi") Flattery will get you everywhere!

How do you like them parenthses??? ;)

Did't it occur to anyone else than in Attack of the Clones he tells Padme she needs to be protected because the thought of losing her would be unbearable......and in Revenge of the Sith that is the whole reason why Anakin turns. Palpatine was an evil genius, every single thing he said and did was just so he could turn Anakin into his puppet.

Anakin wasn't just an apprentice, he was the 'chosen one' of Jedi (and presumably Sith) prophecy. Palps wanted in on whatever payoff would be inherent in that fact. Secondly ROTS seems to infer a paternal attachment to Anakin. The original script has Palpatine as the one who 'created' Anakin via midi-clorian manipulation. The movie leaves it open, but either way there is a 'father-son' sense to it all which in turn makes Palp's plan to replace Vader with Luke all the more sinister.
And yeah, insert evil cackle...

I do believe Palpatatine was a evil genius like Shadow_JediX said. There's no way he got THAT lucky. In episode I, he is by Padme's side (or atleast her protector who was impersinating Padme for protection reasons) and says that the Republic isn't whata it was and the then- supreme chancelor didn't have the power to help her and it was time for a new one. Then he gets elected and wins! In the episode II, we start seeing him councling Ani and flattering him with comments like what GalaticBabe said. He feeds on Ani's weakest points, he knew that Ani was frustrated about how Obi-Wan didn't want him to take the trials and he knew that Ani would do anything for Padme. He clearly thought this whole thing out.

jyer has a really good point. also think back to TPM... obi-wan says something to the effect of his medichlorians are off the chart, not even master yoda has a count this high. this would indicate that he is the most powerful jedi because although their may possibly have been someone with a higher medicholrian count than ani (probably not for i do think he was the chosen one) (parenthesis) they wouldnt have already been trained as a jedi and wouldnt have the experience of the clone wars behind them.
