I know that this question should probably go on the message boards, and yet, it is here anyway. I was watching Ep. III again and wondering, how does General Grievous wield lightsabers? I was reading New Jedi Order: Edge of Victory (I can't remember which one, probably the second.). Anyway, Tahiri and Anakin (Solo) are trapped in a space station when guards confiscate their lightsabers. Later on, they encounter the guards playing with the weapons and Anakin remarks that they will hurt themselves because no one without the aid of the Force can safely or efficiantly (is that the correct spelling?). They are more likely to hurt themselves rather than their targets. So how can General Grievous wield
four
lightsabers as well, if not better, than a Jedi when he cannot channel the Force? I know many of you will have your ideas, but I will post my thoughts on the subject to save you precious little time.
Arguments for: #1: In
Empire Strikes Back
, Han uses Luke's saber to gut open a tauntaun. #2: General Grievous is a cyborg, and his two opposable thumbs and droid abilities may give him advantage so that he does not need the Force.
#3: He was trained by Count Dooku, who is very skilled and is obviously able to teach the art well (In direct defiance of the Sith rules set out by Darth Bane, (Count Dooku takes on his own apprentice, Assaj Ventress, making the number of Sith 3).
Arguments against: #1 When Han cuts the tauntaun, he only uses the saber to make one cut. It was only turned on for a few seconds. #2 Even with these abilities, he still has a human brain, and would have trouble (especially since he suffered brain trauma during the accident) controlling four lightsabers at one time, a feat even the most skilled Jedi have trouble with, using them well, and still controlling them so precisly as not to injure himself. #3 It is true Dooku can teach well, to a person who is Force sensitive. Even a skilled fighter such as Dooku would have trouble teaching the arts to a non Force sensitive, which includes cyborgs with asthma.
If you have any ideas of your own, or want to add to my brain goo, feel free to comment. Again, I know this should probably be on the message boards, so please, no comments concerning this.
May the Force be with you,
