An Ode To Fandom
Another poem! Hurray!

An Ode To Fandom
From the dunes of Tatooine,
To the forests of Wayland,
Everyone has this feeling,
It's awesome to be a fan.

Going to the movies,
At the hour of midnight,
To see the brand new film,
Packed with lightsaber fights.

Going to the conventions,
Head to toe Jedi threads,
Wowing others with your Temuera impression,
"He's no good to me dead."

Hyperspace, Bantha Tracks, so much to read,
Waiting for Insider with each day.
Some may call you names,
But I wouldn't have it any other way.

At C3 we massed in thousands,
Old friends meeting the first time,
Surrounded by the costumes,
Listening for Artoo's friendly chime.

Yelling at a movie screen,
"Anakin, he can't save your wife!"
"Mace, can't you see he's evil?"
This is our life.

Writing to Mr. Lucas,
Hoping he'll take the time,
To read our pleading requests,
And grant us seven, eight, and nine.

Lightsaber duels in the yard,
Vader antenna topper on the car,
This is the life of a geek,
and the true fan loves Jar Jar.

A shelf in your home is devoted,
To your loving Chewbacca shrine.
It's got everything from Attacktix to M&M wrappers,
And even tragic Vector Prime

We know our Wookiees from our Whills,
Our Jar Jar from our Jinn.
We know the weak points on the Death Stars,
And that Anakin's love turned to sin.

We know how Chewbacca died,
Leaving Han flying solo,
And we'd definitely prefer a Podrace
To NASCAR or horseback polo.

If we only had a lightsaber,
Or an X-Wing to traverse the spacelanes,
Or perhaps you'd prefer to have Boga,
Or, as you grow old, a gimer cane.

Our dreams recurrent night by night,
Of our friends and us being Jedi,
It makes us a bit regretful to wake up,
As we wish it were real with a sigh.

While others are working on schoolwork,
We're on a fanfilm, writing dialogue,
While on vacation to Florida,
We're imagining we're in a Dagobah bog.

The obsession is fueled with video games,
LEGO, KotOR, Battlefront,
And while the loyal like Gungans,
It's hard to resist a Naboo hunt! ]:)

After Revenge of the Sith,
Many fans turned away.
But while others moved on,
We geeks were here to stay.

We're the ones that bought the Xbox
Just to play Battlefront II.
We're the ones of the most brothers,
As our connections to these films remain true.

These are my brothers and sisters,
Whose obsession grows each week.
These are the people that remind me,
I am proud to call myself "geek."

I'll add over time.
