KOTOR II Restoration Project Finished!
Once upon a time, Bioware made one of my favorite games of all time, Knights of the Old Republic. Once upon a slightly later time, Obsidian Entertainment made a sequel to that game, Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. That game what a technical improvement on the first KOTOR, the plot was okay, but the game seemed a bit incomplete, to say the least. The last third of the game was a basically nonsensical and unsatisfying chain of events that suggest that there's something interesting going, but there was just too much content missing to be excusable. It was still a good game, I've replayed it a few times, but I was very disappointed.

How did this happen? It was pushed out early to make a holiday release.

One day, I discovered that there was a modding project being undertaken by fans like myself, to restore much of the content that was tragically cut from KOTOR II. Because in fact, the recorded voices, the scripts, and other content are on the disc! They just weren't integrated into the game. The game could have been amazingly improved by just adding some critical lines of dialog, and here is a team not only putting those things in, but all the different endings and options into the game, elevating the game beyond "complete" to the lofty potential it had when it was designed.

And now, finally, the project is complete. It's just a "Release Candidate" for now, that is to say, it's not FINAL final, but barring any more serious problems discovered in this really open beta, it's ready. I haven't had a chance to install it and replay TSL yet, but I can't wait.
