One of the most enjoyable peices of fan made Star Wars material for me was the once upon a time radio series, Stromtrooper Bob.
A long time ago, I stumbled upon a page on theforce.net that had available for downlaod all the exploits of the great Stormtrooper Bob. I'd never heard of it, and curiously downloaded them.
There once was an internet radio show called jeditalk.com. It was a show that simply talked about Star Wars, and had a nifty catch phrase: "Dark Side or Light, Join us Sunday Night." And for many episodes, they started off the show with one tale of Stormtrooper Bob, about an ordinary Stormtrooper and his off beat gang of comrades in the infamous G-Troop.
There were 30 episodes, every one of which I have fully listened to again and again, after downloading them off of theforce.net.
The episodes were great. It was a hilarious comedy series with a great sense of humor. Lively and blatantly stereotypical characters, as well as the assorted themed narrators made it a guilty pleasure to enjoy listening to. The jokes were all solid and for the most part worked great. What made it stand out as a Star Wars spoof, though, were the great references that only a fan would pick up on. (The Mara Jade scene and the Thrawn scene come to mind, but if you haven't heard them, that doesn't mean very much to you now does it?)
Admittedly, the production quality was through the floor, so to speak. The voice acting and all around preformance was unproffessional at best, but certainly satsifactory and the great content shines through.
Stromtrooper Bob and his troop, as it turns out, are some of the respected and famous people in the Empire, and I would venture to say they are the most important people int he Galaxy. It's true, they are many of the Stromtroopers that you see in the movies, and many that you don't. They're responsible for the destruction fo 2 Death Stars, and the personal unwitting saviors of every major rebel leader.
I love Stormtrooper Bob and all the great lines such as:
"Drink socially do you? I've seen you drink Blue milk all alone in the dark wearing nothing but your knickers!"
"He should be dead. He's forty pounds overweight, can't run thrity seconds without vomitting, which by the way he finds hilarious, and he thinks flatulence is a form of natural defense, which for him, I think is correct."
Han Solo: "...Besides, I know a few maneuvers, we'll lose them."
Stromtrooper Bob: "Manuevers? But he's just flying in a straight line!"
Captain: "Clever devil, we'll never catch him now!"
Obi-Wan: "You don't need to see his identification"
Stromtrooper Lewis: "We don't need to see his identification."
Stromtrooper Francis: "What do you mean we don't need to see his identification? OF COURSE we need to see his identification!"
Obi-wan: "These aren't the droids you're looking for."
Stromtrooper Lewis: "These aren't the droids we're looking for."
Stromtrooper Francis: "How do you know these aren't the droid we're looking for, you didn't even check his identification!"
I would call this series a must listen, for the sheer entertainment value, especially for a true Star Wars fan. Unfortunately, while theforce.net page still technically exists, (
http://theforce.net/fanfilms/story/stormtrooper_bob_87605.asp), the substance of the page is gone and the downloads are no longer active, or at least I can't find them. I have the files safe and stored away on my computer, but the original source I got them from seems to be gone. It's sad, because Stormtrooper Bob was a great audio series that I've loved from when I first listened.
So if you've listened, tell us what you think. If you know where to get it, even better. If you've never heard of it, then I'm glad that I've at the very least informed you fo the existance of an underated, unknown fan production, that I wish everyone could experience.
UPDATE: I did some searching and found a place to freely host files of significant size. So without further ado, the link to download a zip file containing all 30 episodes of Stormtrooper Bob, courtesy of File Factory. Enjoy!

Please tell me if it doesn't work; it should, but who knows. Also, I cannot garuntee the safety of your computer. Rest assured, I uploaded Stormtrooper Bob, but I have never used this site before and can't promise anything about it. It looks legit enough.
NOTE: The file will remain on their servers indefintely, until no one downloads it for 15 days. So it is NOT permanent, but will remain if there are frequent enough downloads.
