George Lucas recently
donated 175 million dollars to the USC school of Cinema-Television. (No, I did not forget the decimal point). It is the single largest private donation in USC history. On October 4, at the official renaming ceremony (the school is being renamed to the "School of Cinematic Arts."), he was there in person and gave a small speech.
I got to see him there, and being a fanboy, was terribly excited. It wasn't amazing, but it was cool to be within 50 feet of him nonetheless.
Then as an added bonus, yesterday, on my way to the football game, while on the bus, I saw George Lucas standing with a few other people on the side of the road, still on campus. I had to resist the urge to jump off of the bus, but it was cool either way.
So yeah... I guess that makes a horrible story, but it was cool for me, and I thought I'd share.
