Loose Lips Sink Ships
Another viewing, another thought. That's the pattern when watching Star Wars. This time, I thought of something in Revenge of the Sith, and was reminded of the old wartime saying "Loose lips sink ships."

You know, your boyfriend mentions where he's posted in a letter, you mention it to a friend, a spy overhears it, and the next day a battleship in the pacific explodes.

How would things have been different if Anakin had not mentioned that he was going to Mustafar to Padme?

He didn't need to go home to see Padme, he wanted to, and he didn't need to tell her where he was going, but he did. Padme was Obi-Wan's only lead to finding Anakin. Think of the implication of Obi-Wan stowing away on Padme's ship, and the effect it had on Anakin when he saw him.

What would Anakin's fate be if he and Obi-Wan hadn't fought on Mustafar? Would Anakin have died? Would he have been unharmed, and would Obi-Wan be the one to lose?

What of Anakin's plan to overthrow the Emperor? Would he have gone on with it after leaving Mustafar? With the Emperor dead, he galaxy would have taken a much different turn.

And what of Padme herself? Had she not gone to Mustafar, and had that encounter not unfolded as it did, how would the childbirth have turned out?

All of this is dependent on a few events. If Padme hadn't chased after of Anakin, if Obi-Wan hadn't stowed away. And if Anakin hadn't mentioned to Padme where he was headed next.

Loose lips indeed.
