Movies and their Movie-lovers
I was thinking. (I know. Amazing, isn't it?) I was pondering how and why different people have different favorite Star Wars movies. Well, they're each different, and in a way, they each have their own sort of watcher who prefers them.

The Phantom Menace- A movie for the kids

Mothers, mentors, a sweet little kid who saves the day, and Jarney the Dinosaur-- uh.. I mean Jar Jar Binks.Obi-Wan is still a student, everyone is still happy. It's a more lighthearted Star Wars flick, and it's appealing whether you're the kid or the kid at heart.

Attack of the Clones- A movie for the ACTION fan

Sabers, armies, and execution arenas, oh my! Car chases, sky diving, bounty hunter tracking, and Yoda kicking butt. And of course the romance and the fireplace scene... wait... okay, cover your ears for that part and it's definitely a movie for the action fan.
Alternatively, if romance is your thing then this might be the favorite for that reason, if you can stomach all the fighting. :p

Revenge of the Sith- Something for everyone!

A comedy, tonight! (Scratch that, wrong entertainment venue). Some of the best action, and some of the best drama, and not to mention the most important transformation in the Star Wars saga. This movie is completion, it's exciting, it's entertaining no matter what.

A New Hope- A movie for the nostalgic

The other movies will be what they are, but they can't be what A New Hope is: The First. Sitting in that theater for the first time, seeing that massive Star Destroyer zoom overhead, what can compare to that memory? It's the start of it all, it's why Star Wars is popular, and it's the beginning of an era, giving is definite psychological edge in the mind of those who remember.

The Empire Strikes Back- A movie for the moviegoer

A popular favorite, especially for the non-fan. This one is a lot of things. It's the start of the continuation of the story, it is momentous in revelation and expansion, it is exciting, dramatic, and romantic. But also, it is cinematically great. George Lucas has never been praised for his directing abilities, but he didn't direct this one. And it made a movie that even the movie connoisseur can be fond of.

Return of the Jedi- A movie for the fan

It may not be as flashy as Revenge of the Sith, it may not carry the weight of Empire Strikes back, but it's the culmination of the saga. To those who understand the saga, the death of the Emperor, the redemption of Anakin Skywalker, and the rise of Luke Skywalker are some of the most exciting and significant events in Star Wars history. This movie concludes the messages of the films, and launches the setting of the expanded universe. What matters to a Star Wars fan happens here, and the movie's great fun, to boot.

So there are my thoughts on the movies and their favoritors. Of course, these are all very general and subjective. Also note that they apply to general types of people more than they apply to different types of fans. So no one be upset if you disagree, these are just vague ideas, and frankly, I'm very curious about what you all think of the generalizations I've made. What's your favorite movie, and what do you think of the above assessment of it in regards to why you like it.

Personally, I think my favorite is still Return of the Jedi. When I think of what makes me like it more, even though others might be better in certain aspects, I think that it's everything coming together that makes it appealing. Basically, what I said above.

What do you all think?
