The Force Remains Leashed
Although this is probably old news to many, "The Force Unleashed" has been delayed to Spring of 08.

That article is almost two weeks old, but it's news to me, so I'm talking about it.

First, a note: The original November 07 release date was not official. It was one of those dates that retailers give. Also, it was simply an early release date. There are few games that don't get delayed. So having that change honestly isn't surprising.

While there is of course that part of me that's saying "Nooo! Now I have to wait even longer!" a much greater part of me is telling the other part "Shut up, you're stupid, this is a good thing."

Lucasarts is a publisher, and one that owns the rights to a franchise that can sell a profitable amount of units regardless of the quality of the game it produces. Consequently, they're especially prone to rushing a game. They've done it before. Seeing them be willing to delay is a good sign that they won't screw this one up, like they did KOTOR II.

But more than that general sentiment, the November date scared me. In the marketing world, "November" is actually "Out-in-time-for-Christmas-mber." Which only gives even MORE pressure to stick with the release date, and not push it back. Seeing them already be passed that hurdle is very relieving.

So, as someone who is greatly anticipating this game, I am glad that they have pushed back the release date. I don't want a great game to be rushed, and Lucasarts has to much experience rushing games, so I am very very relieved that this game is being given the time it needs.
