Darth Weinstein Controversy on Drudge Report
The battle between Star Wars fans and "Darth" Weinstein over the movie Fanboys has been raging on and has now shown up on Drudge Report.
I didn't know about this controversy until j3d1mast3r brought it to my attention, but now I'm definitely concerned, thanks to him.

If you don't know the Drudge Report, it's a high profile blog that is nothing but links to the news of the day. This simple little website gets more attention and has more influence than you might think.

At the moment, Drudge has a link to this article, a Hollywood Reporter article about the situation. The article itself contains news that Weinstein is going to release both version of Fanboys on DVD, and are considering two theatrical releases as well.

The article's author doesn't understand the situation that well, and there are factual mistakes in it, but it was fairly neutral on the issue. Aside from the actual news about what Weinstein says, they're going to do, the article, overall, isn't great.

The real story, however, is the link on Drudge. It is is simply a great boost to publicity, that it would be very hard to obtain otherwise.

Two theatrical releases!?! Are they insane!? Two different copies of the same story released at the same, seperatey? That is one of the biggest movie-making no-no's ever. You don't release the same movie two different ways. It's like making competition for yourself. Do they honestly think people are going to want to see both of them?

It's too much. They need to pick one story and run it, and maybe throw in the second one as a 'bonus' when it goes to DVD.

Whichever one doesn't make us all look like idiots. Its not like we arent a bad enough stereotype already.
