One Year Later....
Eddie Guerrero was one of the greatest professional wrestlers to ever step in a wrestling ring. Born into a family of great professional wrestlers Eddie followed in the footsteps of his legendary father Gory Guerrero and his three older brothers Mando, Hector, and Chavo.

Eddie began his wrestling career in Mexico wrestling in many different promotions. He also wrestled in Japan under the name Black Tiger. He began lifelong friendships there with fellow superstar wrestlers Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Chris Jericho.

In 1995 Eddie joined ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling). In his short time with the Philadelphia promotion Eddie wrestled classic matches with wrestlers such as Tazz, Chris Benoit, Shane Douglas, Sabu, and Dean Malenko.

Later that year Eddie would join WCW (World Championship Wrestling) with his friends Benoit and Malenko. Eddie wrestled some of the most notible names in the wrestling business and found his place in the Cruiserweight division along with many superstars around the world. His greatest opponent in the division was Rey Mysterio Jr.

Eddie spent 5 years in WCW unfortunately they weren't the best. Eddie struggled with addiction and the politics of wrestilng in a hostile wrestling company. In January 2000 Eddie, Benoit, Malenko and Perry Saturn left WCW for WWE.

Eddie quickly became a superstar and was given the recognition he deserved all along. He quickly won the WWE European and Intercontinental Championships. Unfortunately with every high there comes many lows.

Eddie struggled with his addictions and by the spring of 2001 Eddie disappeared from the WWE. He went to get his life back in order and in November of 2001 Eddie became completely sober. The following spring Eddie returned to WWE and established himself even further as a superstar.

Eddie quickly won back the Intercontinental Championship and won the WWE Tag Team Championships with his nephew Chavo Guerrero Jr. In 2003 Eddie won two more WWE Tag Team Titles, one with Chavo and won with Tajiri. He also won a tournament to crown the new WWE United States Champion by defeating Chris Benoit in the finals.

Eddie's greatest achievement came on February 15, 2004 when he defeated Brock Lesnar, a man twice Eddie's size, for the coveted WWE Championship. One month later at WrestleMania XX, Eddie's best friend Chris Benoit won the World Heavyweight Championship and the two shared their joy in the ring with their two championships held high. It was a moment of satisfaction and enjoyment for both superstars and the fans.

Eddie lived out his dream and defended the WWE Title with honor against legendary opponents like Kurt Angle, Booker T., Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Triple H, and John Bradshaw Layfield, the man Eddie eventually lost his championship to.

On February 20, 2005 Eddie would win his last championship which was the WWE Tag Team Championship with his long time friend Rey Mysterio. One month later the duo faced off against one another at WrestleMania 21 thus beginning a feud that would take place through most of 2005.

On October 9, 2005 Eddie's 38th birthday, Eddie would wrestle for the last time on Pay-Per View when he faced Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship. Although he lost, Eddie continued to wrestle at his best.

On November 8, 2005 Eddie wrestled his last match against Ken Kennedy on an episode of Smack Down.

Sunday November 13, 2005 Eddie Guerrero passed away of a heart attack at the age of 38 years old. That night WWE Superstars and wrestling fans throughout the world mourned his loss and celebrated his life.

One year later I can still remember reading about his loss and falling to my knees crying. To this day I miss Eddie Guerrero and I always will. He was a man who conquered his addiction and opened his heart to the Lord. He went out every night and stole the show. He loved being a wrestler and he was damn good at what he did. Whether he was a good guy or a bad guy he made the fans love him or love to hate him.

His ability in the ring was unmatched. Eddie is survived by his wife Vicky, his 3 daughters Shaul, Sherlynn, and Kaylee, his mother Lenna, his brothers Hector, Mando, and Chavo Sr. and his nephew Chavo Guerrero who continues to wrestle and upholding the Guerrero traditions in the ring.

Eddie we miss you to this day and we will never forget you. Long live "Latino Heat"
