Watching the saga?
I have recently had a freind tell me they are interested in giving the movies a chance (shes never seen one before) So....I was going to allow her to borrow and return the movies as she watches them.

My only problem is...How should I give them to her? the OT first? or the PT?

I watched the OT when I was 6 and I think it would have been more interesting if I had got to watch the PT first.

But yet should my friend have the chance to see them in the same order as the rest of us?

Thanks,
Jedi Abba :D

PT first, it will give the characters more depth and a backstory, and most of all, it is the way Lucas envisions it.

That depends. Is she the type who gets confused easily? If so, lend her Episode 1 first. If not, explain clearly about the order they were released in and lend her Episode 4 first.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. I hope the Insights of Master Koth helped.

PT then OT: you lose the drama of "OMG he's your FATHER?!?!?!" but you gain the chill of seeing Boba Fett walking around a star destroyer amongst loads of clones of his dad.

OT then PT: you lose the story-line stuff, and Yoda comes across as a bit of a nit on Dagobah, but you gain the ability to spot references to the OT, such as "Oo, there's Tarkin" and "Obi-Wan! Anakin IS, like, totally ACTUALLY GOING to be the death of you!"

Hope that helps,

Start with 4, 5, and 6. Thats how they were meant to be. I think its cooler knowing watching anikan take his steps to the dark side with the knowledge that he is vader.

No, they were not meant to be in the order of 4,5,6,1,2,3 for new viewers.

What are you talking about?

Well, if she hasn't seen aniy of them before, start w/the PT, so a couple of things get cleared up, then go to the OT.

Show the PT first. If you don't, it will ruin the suspence of "Oh my gosh, is Maul/Jango/Greivous really going to kill Obi-Wan???!!!" and things like that.

And throw in the Clone Wars cartoons between II and III if she's likes I and II (and explain it gets better if she doesn't like I) ;)

Flip a coin, paper-rock-scissors, doesn't really matter. Lucas originally envisioned an OT without a PT, so starting with the OT is certainly valid. Not to mention, that's how we were exposed to it.

You should give a little background about both OT and PT, without giving too muh away, then let the person decide. If they cannot, then I'd go with OT/PT.

To Will the Hut: I'm not sure there were many clones of Jango by the time the original trilogy comes around. I'm not saying they aren't there, but Lucas took the time to put Jango's voice over the old Bobba Fett voice, but didn't do that for any of the Stormtrooper's lines. Also, they all appear to be different heights (only one hits his head in a new hope on the door) This is totally a different topic and I apologize.

I would go OT the PT. By now even no one that has seen the SW knows there is Darth Vader somewhere, but not everyone knows that Vader is Luke's father. Maybe its the old school remembering how friggin shocked I was when Vader said that. I don't know.
