"Lets Blow this thing and go home!"

A girl, her dog, and a few snickerdoodle cookies!
Sadly, I have yet to watch all of the Star Wars films in order as a marathon. I have been wanting to for a while, but never can find the time to do so. Today, I did watch the entire Original Trilogy in order. I had two options. Watch them on VHS on a tiny TV, or watch them on the Special Edition DVDs on a 57' TV. I do like the version of them on VHS much better, without all of the changes, but yet watching them all with a better picture and a bigger TV just sounded so good.

My brother had a doctor's appointment. Both of my parents decided to go. The appointment was all the way in Oklahoma City (a four hour drive.) I had the option to go...sit in a car for four hours...sit in a doctor's office for maybe up to an hour....eat out somewhere good....and then sit in the car for another four hours. I chose to sit at home, by myself. :D

So far my day already consisted of many more decisions to be made than the average day, in my case. VHS or DVD? To go, or to stay? Once my parents left, I found myself in the kitchen preparing a nice big bowl of warm popcorn. I decided I would allow my dog to come in and enjoy the magic of the Original Trilogy with me, considering how much she likes Chewbacca.

Finally....I was sitting on the floor wrapped up in three blankets ready to begin with A New Hope. The room was dark, and suddenly a yellow glow stretched across the screen and I began humming one of the catchiest tunes ever. I looked over....and my dog, Rosie, had her head stuffed into my bowl of popcorn. X-( I wasn't pleased. I took the popcorn away and threw it away and told myself I would make more later. Then I wondered, how could I ever watch Star Wars without some kind of good food? I remembered my mom's secret stash of snickerdoodle cookies in the pantry.

So three or so minutes later I was finally enjoying Darth Vader marching through the halls of the Tantive IV. So there I was, watching the saga, eating cookies...and well, that's about it. What could be better?

The phone did happen to ring about...seven times before I finished ANH! I was devastated; I really wanted to watch at least one movie without a single distraction. The thought of turning the phone off crossed my mind, but my family was out of town, so I left it on.

When the movie was over I sat down at the computer and read over a few Star Wars blogs, and even replied to a couple. I even found myself checking up on the Jedi Forum. Wasn't much longer until the doorbell rang. :O I was becoming frustrated, so much for a day to myself. It was my grandma. She came over to check on me, knowing my parents were home. She stayed for about twenty minutes before saying she had to leave and go home. Right when I was ready to star ESB, Rosie decided she needed to go outside.

It was about time, I was finally sitting down ready to begin the second movie. The yellow glow of words stretched across the screen, yet again. I wasn't even an hour into the movie before my mom called. She wanted to make sure I fed Rosie, and my cat. Once I was off the phone I fed the animals, after that I was able to make it to the part where Leia, Han, and Chewbacca were in Cloud City before my parents arrived.

This experience left me with one question....How did the time escape me so quickly. How did I ever expect to really watch all three? So next time I have the chance to stay home alone I will give the Prequel Trilogy a chance, and turn off the phone.

Comments Appreciated,

NOTE: Indeed, this is a completely random and pointless blog. For some reason I felt like adding this into my blog of randomness. Mainly for anyone who is bored enough to read.

I concur.. this blog induced no boredom.. I enjoyed it. :)
I have tried to watch them in a marathon myself.. and failed as well. You'd think when your "all grown up" it would get easier.. it doesn't.
At least you got some cookies and got through Episode 4! That still sounds like a good day to me!

I have done the entire Saga marathon (Clone Wars cartoons included) and you have to get up pretty early in the morning if you're gonna squeeze 'em all in. Luckily, my dog is a Jedi Pug, so he behaves himself and I have no qualms about taking the phone off the hook! If it's that big a deal, they'll call back later! ;)

Nice blog! Thanks for sharing your day with us. B-)

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I somewhat enjoyed the experiance myself, really showed me that the marathon will be much more complecated than I expected. I didn't even make it half way through. ; I will give the entire marathon a chance during the summer.

May the force be with us all. ;)

You wrote about the story of my life! It seems that every times I am trying to deeply enjoy SW, the phone rings, again, and again, and again, and again....well, you get the picture. Let's just say my phone rings at least every 15 minutes throughout the day because my parents are self-employed and have a business. So I just don't answer the phone anymore...leave a message, muahahaha! Good blog.
