Holy Exploding Death Star, Hansgirl! Is it that time of year already?
What is this "Balanced Force Day" anyway?
So glad you asked. BFD celebrates, naturally, the bringing of balance to the Force as Anakin returns (with Luke's help) and gives ol' Palpy the toss-o-death. 'Round the time of year we earthlings celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc., GFFAers do the BFD thang. Most BFD material I've uncovered pokes fun at the deceased Emperor and commemorates the Rebels, Jedi, droids and...Ewoks...who helped take him down. Other uncovered information has revealed certain practices and traditions, which strangely parallel some of our own. This only proves further that our galaxy has been more influenced by the GFFA than we'll ever know...unless anything to say about it, I have.
Despite the Dark Side dumping its load of Sith on me recently, I have taken it on as my duty to share with YOU, my fellow bloggers, the joy that BFD brings to those in the GFFA. Please feel free to ask any questions about the holiday, I promise to do my best to answer, but not much is known about this special day yet. I assure you that I will continue on my quest for knowledge of all things BDFish, though obviously Dark forces in this galaxy and the next will stop at nothing to hinder my efforts. (I've got some incredible friends, though, who are helping me in unimaginable ways.

)
We must first honor the one and only AMI for bringing this extraspectabulicious day to my attention in a
blog not so long ago. My dear Ami, this week would not have been possible without you. (I owe you a TastyKake!)
Yes, since I have been unable to narrow BFD down to a single day on our earthling calendar, we will celebrate BFD for the next 4 days, people! Wahoo! (There will be a little sumpn' sumpn' extra on Friday, too). Throughout the course of this week, I will show you all I have learned concerning BFD practices and traditions. Other wonderful bloggers have made contributions as well, which I assure you, you won't want to miss. Plus, they make me look good by association.
This BFD tribute has been inspired by another GFFA holiday that just so happens to have already been documented. For
your convenience, I have
posted the
whole Holiday Special (starring: pointless Wookiee growling, overacting Imperials, and Luke's makeup) for
you here-
in order, no less! Happy Life Day!
(Some of the clips have a few seconds of blank mess in them, and you miss some of the action in the transitions, but hang in there. It's worth it!)
However, since I know most of you won't watch the whole thing, here are some highlights:
Introducing Boba Fett
The Cantina Scene
The last part of the song gets cut off...see the rest
here (sorry for the overlap- you can cut to the last couple of minutes if you can't stand watching it again)
Leia Sings (unfortunately)
Who thinks of
this stuff?
That was my 1st BFD present to you. My 2nd is this:
Go to the Start menu on your computer. Click "run." Type in: telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl (yes, there is a space between "telnet" and "towel") and hit OK. Just wait for a sec...and then watch SW like you've never seen it before! (So sorry, but I don't know how to make this happen on a Mac. Run to your closest PC and give it a try!)
How can YOU get involved in my BFD extravabloganza? Well, I have this strange love for Mad Libs...you know, the stories where you fill your own words in the blanks without knowing the context? I have constructed a BFD Mad Lib of my own (or rather, seriously modified an existing one). Please e-mail me (using the "contact blogger" deal) or post in the comments the following parts of speech:

If any turn out particularly well, perhaps I'll post them sometime this week...
Stay chooned! Tomorrow is going to knock your socks off!
Forcefully,
