Welcome to Star Wars: Celebration BFD! Those of you seasoned bloggers remember
BFD from last year, but for all the newcomers, here is your official introduction.
1st order of business: BFD=Balanced Force Day.
A long time ago in a blogosphere, um, right here, amidalooine asked a bunch of questions. (She's asking even MORE
questions today!) In one of those questions, she happened to wonder whether or not the GFFA celebrated the balancing of the Force. A seemingly harmless question, but one that stuck in my mind. Ideas started sifting. Music was added. Jokes were stirred in. I cracked a couple of pics, borrowed a cup of art from my neighbors, baked it all at 375゜, and DING! Balanced Force Day was born. (And it smells delicious!)
Balanced Force Day celebrates first and foremost the balancing of the Force-- Anakin's return to the light, thanks to Luke. In that event, however, a number of other things occurred (the death of Palps, the destruction of the Death Star, the super cool "Yub Nub" song, etc.). All of these became important elements in the GFFAers' celebrations.
As more and more is discovered about this holiday, we see just how vast these celebrations were. They sang songs, told jokes and stories, created art, decorated trees, gave gifts, laughed, loved. In fact, BFD parallels our own winter holiday season in many ways. (Eerie, isn't it?)
The most important part of celebrating BFD was (is) clearly being surround by loved ones.

That is why I cannot simply post BFD. I need YOU to help make it the holiday it is meant to be. Big thanks to those who have already gotten into the holiday spirit. The MadLibs are looking great, the songs are sounding wonderful, and the pics are oh so pretty.

Even though the week of BFD (yep, a whole week!) has begun, there is still plenty of time to get in the fun! Feel free to send me any BFD contribution, or even let me know what you plan to post and when and I will link it.
For today's celebration, we will honor the one, the only Star Wars Holiday Special. (Hey, Life Day is important, people!) If you have never seen this, I highly recommend it. If you have seen this, you can always pick up my tradition of watching it every year.
Let's ceeeelll-ebrate a day of peace, a day of haaar-mo-nyyyyy!
Thanks to
zachstarwalker, I have a shiny new link with the
whole thing (commercials and all)! Now there's no way you can cheat and just watch the Boba cartoon.
Enjoy!
Not enough links? OK. For a sneak peak at someone's very 1st Balanced Force Day (passed onto us through the one and only Granny),
clickety clickety.

Also, here is Jimmy Mac's latest
Galaxy of Music: Holiday Special. And finally, don't forget to join in JMW's
Holiday Raffle!!! Hurry up & enter. You will NOT be disappointed!
Are your link-clicking fingers satisfied now?
Another bit of BFD you might want to get into this season is decorating a BFD tree. Tomorrow, you will see just how simple it is to decorate your very own! I'll provide a little guide for ya, including pics of two very successful BDF 2007 trees. Those pictures will also mark the beginning of the BFD 2007 photo album! If you have any holiday photos you think would fit in, go ahead and send them in. This is a community and the album belongs to all of us.
OK, I'm done being sappy. Go watch Bea Arthur argue with drunk aliens! (You know you want to.)
Happy BFD!
Forcefully,
JP
P.S. Don't forget about the
MadLibs!
