You wanna know the coolest feeling in the galaxy? Waking up, getting ready to post a blog, and seeing a plethora of BFD entries from others in the community!
OK, not the
best feeling, but it's still pretty freakin' awesome!
Want to create your own BFD celebration at home? It's easy as one, two, tree!
Yeah, OK, somebody kill me now.
You can decorate your own Balanced Force Day tree, though. (That design in my entry description? Supposed to be a tree, btw...) All you need is a tree (preferably some sort of nice pine-- the size is up to you). You could probably use some twinkly lights as well. After you dress up the tree in a decent amount of twinkly lights, you may begin adding ornaments. We are mighty lucky here in this galaxy, because one of our "stores" sells Star Wars "ornaments," which are coincidentally quite handy when BFD rolls around. (I have a number of these ornaments and am very satisfied with the result they have on my BFD tree.) You can add as many SW ornaments as you'd like. You can never have too many!
Once this is completed, you may feel as if your BFD tree is beautiful and unique. It is not.
You still don't have the star on top, you big gundark! You have a couple options for what tops your tree. There is the Death Star topper (either Death Star works) or the Padme Angel. I have chosen to make a Death Star, inspired by the more symmetrical first model. I found a regular Earthly star tree topper (with a handy blinking feature) to begin with. Then I found a nice picture of the Death Star, sized it appropriately, cut it out, & pasted it to a piece of cardboard. 32 minutes later (I had to check my e-mail several times, ya know), I used some bits of wire and glue to fashion some hooks on the back the DS. These hooks allowed the cardboard to be attached to the regular tree topper. The gold foily stuff peeks out from behind the picture and the blinking feature makes it look almost as if the Death Star is exploding...over and over again! (Victory!!)
Here is my
BFD tree. Nice, huh? Alright, here is my
real tree. I had a very special
friend over to help put it together, too.
Here are some other bloggers' BFD trees. Hansgirl's
looks absolutely
lovely this year, as does
PS77's. Take a look at her rockin'
costume!
Looky, looky! More
pics from
HG to
add to the BFD 2007 photo album. Here's a cute
winter scene, happened upon by JediPug. And here are some more photos from the
lovely PS77 and her
festive R2.
While we're on the subject of the photo album, let me introduce some very artistic developments. We have a nice photoshop
submission from someone who wishes to remain safely anonymous *coughzachcough*. Here is a freakin'
adorable adaptation of a SW.com sketch by our very own G&WJ. Jawa Claus is a work in progress, but I could not resist welcoming him into our blogosphere.

Here is our very own Nobby's latest
Dork Side, in case you were a total lose and missed it yesterday. (Yeah, I'm talkin' to you.)
We simply mustn't forget that SomethingAwful.com holds a wealth of wonderful Star Warsy
images, for your viewing pleasure.
This just in: Granny's done it again. Another hilarious BFD
memory from the GFFA.
Remember, if you come across something BFD noteworthy, snap a pic and let me know! Or, if you are the more artistic type and want to draw, paint, or manipulate a BFD image, that's fantastic. The photo album is open to just about anything!
There's more fun to come, folks, so stay tuned!
Forcefully,
JP
