Response to "Collectors Heresy" post
This one came in direct via email as a response to my reply to their comment on my last blog. (...sister's uncle's cousin who knew a guy whose girlfriend...yeah).

"RE: Jedi Counciling : A Collector's Heresy

Comments: I totally gave a kid one of the ships I had in my office. My building was attached to our children's museum and a grandfather/grandson had come to visit. Trouble was, it was closed. They walked around our building for a bit and as they waited for some other downtown shops to open up, I invited them to sit in with me. I was also watching Star Wars at the time.
The kid was so cool and well behaved, I let him play with my Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighter. He was so careful with it, I gave it to him when they left. He was so happy, I almost cried."

That's what I'm talking about people. This kid is a fan for life because somebody cared enough to pass it on. Yeah, we all have our treasured items that are probably behind plastic if not glass, but seriously... what is the rest of the collection doing? Gathering dust most likely. Do you even look at it, or is it just a decoration that barely gets noticed? Maybe your action figure collection organizes their own wars at night and maybe have adventures of their own rescuing the ones that fall out a window and hijack a pizza truck, but a well played with and scuffed toy is a well loved toy. And those kinds of childhood memories never leave us, or at least they shouldn't. So pass on the legacy of the force, and when a kid looks up at you in adoration, the force will be with you.

P.S. Thanks to whoever suggested the photo-sharing websites. I honestly couldn't figure out how to import a photo, it didn't dawn on me to just post a link. Still to come: I give away a hand-painted Millenium Falcon knowing it will just get trashed.
