You might be asking, why would a picture of a computer screen be worth writing about? I'm so glad you asked.
Let's set the stage for this scene. Han, Luke, Chewie, Ben and both droids have just blasted there way into the control room after the Millennium Falcon was pulled into the Death Star by the tractor beam. They are talking about how to get the beam turned off and Ben suggests that R2 plug into the computer. The images begin to flash in rapid succession on the monitor. This image is part of that succession.
This is a pivotal point in the saga. All the characters' lives are about to be changed forever. For some, the change will be for the better, yet for others, the change is disastrous. Let's take a look at the changes.
Ben decides to take care of the tractor beam power on his own and leaves Luke with the droids and Han and Chewie. He says it will be easier for him to turn off the beam power alone then for the whole group to go. Ben tells Luke that he must stay with the droids and that they must be delivered safely or other systems will be destroyed. At first thought, Ben has a good idea about strategy. It would be easier for one person to walk around unseen then for a large group, including a giant Wookie and two droids, to walk around. Splitting up is better for the success of any mission. But looking a little further into the situation, Ben seems to think he's not going to make it back to the ship. Did he "see" his future in the Force? Does he sense Vader's presence on the Death Star? If Ben doesn't sense Vader, it's obvious that Vader sensed Ben. Vader tells Tarken about sensing Ben's presence. He says, "Escape is not his plan." So, what is his plan?
This will be the last time Luke will get a chance to talk to Ben. Luke is now forced to take car of things on his own, even though Han and Chewbacca are still around. I'm sure Luke and the others didn't expect that they were going to be able to stay in the control room for long. Luke's destiny was about to take an exciting turn.
While Luke is trying to figure out what to do after Ben leaves, and tries to convince Han and Chewie to stick around, R2 starts going crazy and beeping for what seems like no reason, until 3PO says the princess is aboard the space station and is scheduled to be terminated. Luke comes up with a dangerous plan for rescuing the princess and has to convince Han to go along with it, using the only thing that Han would have trouble saying no to, the possibility of getting a large reward. Luke, Han and Chewie decide to leave the control room and go rescue the princess, much to 3PO's displeasure.
The situation with Han and Chewie would seem to be much less complicated. After all, they were only providing the transportation. They weren't expecting to be captured. They're only thought would be getting back to the ship and finishing their job so they can get paid. However, Han's greed makes him go along with Luke's plan. So they leave the room and start out to rescue a princess.
