So, with only one more episode before the first season of The Clone Wars series comes to a close, I figure now would be a good time to give my thoughts and opinions on the series.
Overall, I've really enjoyed the show. There have been some interesting characters that were introduced in the series, such as Ahsoka Tano, and Commander Rex. The series give us more detail into the character of Commander Cody, who, as we all know, will betray Kenobi at the end of Ep 3. There have been some really cool villains, as well. One of those villians was Neimoidian Captain Mar Tuuk from the episode "Storm over Ryloth." I thought he was pretty smart in looking at Anakin's history and was sorta prepared for the counter attack. Not your typical Neimoidian. Of course, in the episode Lair of Grevious, we got to see where General Grevious goes to get repaired. I loved the images of Grevious' race before he became the robotic nuisance we all know and love.
There are, however, some continuity issues that I have within the series itself. For starters, Anakin is referred to as General Skywalker throughout the series. I might me mistaken, but only Jedi Masters were referred to as Generals, and the regular knights were referred to as Commanders. According to the movies or the original Clone Wars series, Anakin never becomes a Master. Something must have happened to cause Anakin to go from Master to Knight. This will probably be hashed out later in the series.
The other major continuity issue is have is the placement of the episode titled The Hidden Enemy. This episode starts with Anakin and Obi-Wan preparing for battle on the planet Christofsis. In the Clone Wars Movie, the battle of Christofsis is already in progress and the Jedi are waiting for reinforcements. It's during this battle that we were introduced to Ahsoka as Anakin's padiwan. While I enjoyed the episode, I thought the placement was strange. It should have been included in the movie, or not included at all.
Those are really the only two issues I have with the series. There were a whole lot more things I liked about it. Among my favorite episodes were the two involving R2. R2 is probably my favorite character, and my name on some other sites is Joe2D2. I also enjoyed the episodes that didn't have Skywallker and Kenobi as major characters. I say that because the movies obviously focused on Anakin and his path towards the Dark Side and as a secondary plot, the growth of Obi-Wan from a Padiwan to a Jedi Master. There wasn't much development of the other Jedi. This series had a few episodes where other Jedi were the focus. There was even one that centered on only the Clones. I only wish there were more of those types of episodes.
I can't wait to see what Season 2 has in store.
