Hello everyone. "Woah, a blog that isn't about Valentine's day!?" Yes that's right, I'm sick and my only valentine was my tissues. Anyway, being in my ill state I began watching Star Wars from the beginning planning to watch all six straight through. But then I figured out when I would end and noticed that it would overlap my LOST. Anyway this was my pondering.

"I am ready for the trials." Obi-Wan eagerly states to the Council in episode one. Well what do we know about the trials? We know that there are four trials a Padawan would have to face.

1.) The Trial of Skill: Usually consisted of a lightsaber duel with either another person or a manifestation of the dark side. You must prove to be fully trained as a warrior, with the force and for defense and mastery of lightsaber combat. (Example: Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber duel with Darth Maul on Naboo.)

2.) The Trial of the Flesh: Involved the Jedi overcoming great physical pain, hardship, or loss. It could also test the Jedi's mastery of detachment from physical pleasure and people. (Example: Obi-Wan Kenobi lost his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, during their duel against Darth Maul on Naboo.)

3.) The Trial of Courage: A Padawan would fight courageously in battle, complete a mission with a low chance of survival, or defeat a superior enemy. (Example: Obi-Wan Kenobi defeating Darth Maul during their final duel on Naboo.)

4.) The Trial of the Spirit: The Padawan would have to look deep within themselves, and see what they were truly made of. Often times, the Padawan did not like what they saw, and it could be a highly traumatic experience. (Example: Obi-Wan overcoming the dark side's use during his duel with Darth Maul.)

This are the trials that a Padawan must face, we know this. But what we do not know is what happens when a Padawan fails these trials. What becomes of that Padawan?

I think that the Padawan returns to train with his/her Master. And then when the time comes again the Padawan faces the trials once more hoping to this time pass. But the Council must have a limit on how many times a Padawan can face the trials. Maybe it's one and done.

So another question that we may never see answered. A thought....? Anyone?
