During my English class this last summer, we could write our own Haiku poems for extra credit. Below are the haikus I wrote while watching Episode III in the movie theater one night.
If you don't know, haiku is a form of poetry that originated in Japan around the 12th century. Generally, especially currently, haiku have 3 lines consisting of 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line, and 5 syllables in the last line. Haiku are often written about nature, but Westerners have written them about almost everything. It is very fun to do and doesn't take much time to write. Here are my Star Wars Haiku:
A Phantom Menace
Attempts to capture the Queen
Jedi use caution
Anakin in love
Dooku defies Republic
Attack of the Clones
Order sixty-six
Jedis fight and die bravely
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope rises
To Kenobi's challenges
Death Star is destroyed
The Empire Strikes Back
Han Solo frozen solid
Luke is Vader's son!
Another Death Star
The Rebels plan their attack
The Jedi return!
Write some of your own haikus. It's easier than you think! Have fun!
