Good evening, all!

Tonight I'd like to take a few moments to analyze what I consider to be some of the more noteworthy of the sentimental lines in ROTS. I'll also explain why I consider them to be memorable for better or for worse.


1. "It feels like we've been apart for a lifetime."- Anakin speaking to Padme after rescuing Palpatine

This was an excellent line. It was natural to say, considering the situation they were in, and it was delivered in a very comfortable manner. My rating: 9.5


2. "Ani, I want to have our baby back home on Naboo. We could go to the Lake Country where no one will know; where we can be safe. I can go early and fix up the baby's room. I know the perfect spot: right by the gardens."-Padme speaking to Anakin

I liked these lines. They were a nice beginning to this scene. My rating: 8

Unfortunately, the scene was almost ruined by the lines which directly follow:

3. "You are so beautiful." - Anakin

"It's only because I'm so in love." - Padme

*awkward chuckle* "No, no, it's because I'm so in love with you!" - Anakin

"So love has blinded you?" - Padme

*forced laugh* "No, that's not exactly what I meant."- Anakin

"But it's probably true." *stands there grinning cheesily until scene fades* - Padme


The delivery of these lines was so forced and artificial that it was almost comical! My rating: 4

Additionally, I found Anakin's and Padme's lack of discretion hilarious as well. I'm aware that Padme's look-alike handmaidens, Motee and Elle, served as decoys so that she could secretly meet with Anakin. However, Padme was standing on an open balcony wearing her nightgown and combing her hair, while Anakin stood in the doorway gawking at her in full public view! To me, it was downright laughable!


4. "Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo. So long ago when there was nothing but our love. No politics, no plotting, no war." - Padme speaking to Anakin

I didn't really like this statement. It brings to mind a proverbial saying: "Do not say: "Why has it happened that the former days proved to be better than these?" for it is not due to wisdom that you have asked about this." (Ecclesiastes 7:10) I realize that Padme was reminiscing here, but I detected a bit of unnecessary grousing in her attitude. I will, however, take into account that the lines were delivered in an acceptable manner. My rating: 6.5


5. "Come away with me. Help me raise our child. Leave everything else behind while we still can!...Stop! Stop now; come back! I love you!" - Padme speaking to Anakin after finding out he turned to the Dark Side.

I didn't like these lines at all. Ladies, would you say this to a man who just massacred countless children? I'd say something more along the lines of: "Stay away from me and my baby until you've been through psychological rehab!" My rating: 3

6. "You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!" - Obi Wan Kenobi

I loved these lines! Honest and sincere, the delivery was wonderfully emotional.
My rating: 9.9!


And I've saved the best for last:

7. "Goodbye, Tarfful. Goodbye, Chewbacca. Miss you, I will." - Master Yoda

"AAAAARRRRRRRRRHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" - Tarfful and Chewbacca

These are my favorite of the sentimental lines in ROTS. Mind you, they weren't said with alot of emotion, tears, or sniveling, but I could truly feel how deeply these three would miss each other. I give it a perfect 10!
