I believe that Padme lacked good judgment and common sense regarding Anakin.

I base this conclusion primarily on the fact that in a fit of rage, Anakin slaughtered a whole village full of Tuscans, including the innocent ones. Padme was well aware of this fact, and yet...she married him!...

In Ep III, when Obi Wan informed Padme that Anakin had participated in the cleansing (wanton slaughter) of the jedi in the temple, including the younglings, Padme said something to the effect of: "No, not Anakin! It couldn't be!" But of course, it could be! Anakin already had a track record for that kind of behavior: "I slaughtered all of them like animals! Not only the men...but the women, and the children, too!"

(Allow me to make clear that when the jedi, who are quite similar to police officers, kill someone who threatens the general peace, like Obi Wan did to General Grievous, it is lawful. However, the heartless slaughter of innocents is pure murder!) So in the above statement, Anakin basically admitted to being a mass-murderer.

Good judgment and common sense should have told Padme that anyone who is capable of losing control to that extent would almost certainly hurt her as well. This is why I wasn't a bit surprised when Anakin force-choked her.

Additionally, Ep III indicated that Padme had "lost the will to live." Why?!!! Because her husband had turned to the darkside? Well, I understand how that could be upsetting, but she had just given birth to 2 wonderful children! The desire to give her children a decent upbringing should be enough to give any woman the will to live, wouldn't you agree?

BTW, I chose Anakin turning to the darkside for today's picture because that's how I've always seen him since Ep II...it's too bad Padme never picked up on it...
