Reflections of a Bibliophile...
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!:D

Now that we've rhymed our way through the adventures of Gav and Jori Daragon, I think you deserve a break from the poetry, LOL!:^O

Seeing as I am a bibliophile, I spent a bit of time contemplating the lives of two of the bibliophiles of Star Wars, as well as the archives they were so intensely dedicated to.

The first was Odan-Urr who lived over 4000 years B.B.Y. (Before the Battle of Yavin). He was a studious trainee of Master Ooroo, but he gradually focused less and less on the commission of the Jedi, and devoted himself to books. Eventually, he founded the greatest library of the Old Republic. At the beginning of the Sith War (3996 B.B.Y.), Exar Kun (a Jedi trainee who turned evil) worked to convert weak-willed Jedi into Sith. Aware that Odan-Urr had an original Sith holocron in his charge, Exar Kun infiltrated the repository and misappropriated said holocron, killing Odan-Urr in the process. Thus, the ancient Jedi librarian died among his books after having lived to the ripe old age of 1,000+. Not bad, all things considered.

The second was Jocasta Nu. She, too, was formerly active as a Jedi Knight, and like Odan-Urr, she spent increasing amounts of time directing the Jedi Archives. However, she still wears her lightsaber as a testament of her service to the Jedi Order.

Then I started thinking of similarities and contrasts between the archives of the aforementioned bibliophiles, as well as my own. I was able to draw quite a few parallels, but the only ones worth blogging about are spiritual, so here goes:

The Great Holocron is the most powerful holocron in the Jedi Archives.
The Bible is the most powerful book in my own collection.

The Great Holocron contains secret repositories. As Jedi increase in their knowledge of the force, they will find deeper insight into the Holocron.
The Bible contains hidden wisdom. (1 Corinthians 2:7) As people increase in Holy Spirit, they will find deeper insight into the Word of God. (1 Corinthians 2:10)

The Holocron is imbued with perpetual, subtle power.
The scriptures also exert power. (Hebrews 4:12)

The core energy of the Holocron is renewed by the life force of whoever is currently using it.
In contrast, the Bible serves as a source of renewal to whoever is currently using it. (Psalm 19:7)

Finally, I thought of my own life as compared to that of Odan-Urr and Jocasta Nu. Both of them set aside the original injunction to which they had devoted themselves (The Jedi Order), in order to become keepers of the books. Bibliophile though I am, I have no such luxury. I am expected to diligently remain active in the service to which I have dedicated myself (the full-time ministry). I am determined to stick to this mandate, and ever increase in the knowledge of my "Holocron," as long as "the force" is with me.;)

I appreciate your staying for the duration of this entry. If you are a fellow bibliophile, kindly respond to the questions in the opening post of this thread. I'd love to hear your answers.:)
