The Clone Wars Visual Guide Pales in Comparison to the Previous Visual Guides
While shopping at WalMart, I thumbed through The Clone Wars Visual Guide. I was hoping for good things with The Clone Wars Visual Guide and expected it to live up to the quality of the previous guides, one of which is pictured here. (See my review of the previous visual guides at http://blogs.starwars.com/jedivans-viewpoint/61.) I was sadly disappointed. Whereas the previous visual guides had some good background on various supporting characters, this visual guide doesn't. The artwork is composed primarily of complete scenes from both the film and the upcoming tv series. The previous guides were able to show various characters without any background and, as such were able to do close-ups on clothing, or weapons. None of this is found in this volume, although the book does have information about both the film and at least some of the upcoming episodes of the tv series. In the end, The Clone Wars Visual Guide is extremely disappointing for adults, but would make a good gift for a youngling or for someone like Steve Sansweet - who probably already has a copy! :) Final rating: * 1/2 stars (out of a scale of 0-4 stars).

I must indeed agree that the Visual Guide doesn't contain that much information and sometimes seems as a 'light' edition of the previous VD. It could have contained a lot more information on certain aspects, such as planets, weapons, Clones, etc ... For instance, the pages about the duels contain nothing of value at all.

But it does contain information that - at this moment - can't be found anywhere else. Since the CW Campaign Guide from Wizards seems to be the only Sourcebook that will be published next to the VG, it seems that we'll have to live with the information presented in this book. It's directed more towards kids but I wouldn't consider it a failure. It could have been better though :)

Well, I thought that the visuals were amazing, but since the movie itself doesn't really provide in-depth insight into any particular characters (despite being one heck of a film) so neither would the visual guide.

There was room for improvement, but it was still AWESOME! :D
