A few days ago I found something curious at a popular online bookshop. Some EU books, such as
Shadows of the Empire or
The Truce at Bakura were supposedly edited on
January 1920.
Of course, that's a mistake. What if the Star Wars movies were filmed at that time? I'm glad they were not and we can see them the way Lucas imagined them. Furthermore, one of the many key elements that made them so successful was the right moment when A New Hope was released. The Star Wars movies came just when they were needed.
There is a funny
Silent Star Wars clip on YouTube, but playing and going further...
Imagine a Star Wars soundtrack composed by Gershwin.
Imagine Ben Kenobi and Vader dueling swashbuckler style, jumping around, cutting ropes, falling down.
Imagine the StormTroopers working like the Keystone Cops.
Imagine that the main colors on screen were white, black and grey. Umm. You don't need that much imagination.
I think it was Cecil B. DeMille who said about films and astonishing the public "A movie has to begin with an earthquake and go upwards" [or something like that]. And Episode IV accomplishes that by far.
