Yup. This is it. Another 30th anniversary blog. If I can't be at C4 to celebrate, at least I can blog. I figure if I have a blog at the official site, I have to put up a post for the big day!
Ah. The poster here really does give me awesome memories. It is definitive of classic Star Wars to me, and really brings me back to my best childhood memories. Star Wars really did "make" my childhood in many ways. I really feel I was the perfect age to be quite literally raised by Star Wars, a kids movie but
oh so much more.
I was just turning 6 when I went to opening day of Star Wars in my area. We waited in line and I already had a t-shirt thanks to the merchandising genius of Lucasfilm. My area was in the second rush of theater releases, so I beleive I actually saw it 30 years ago minus a week or so. I might just have to research this as part of my celebration of 30 years and my walk down memory lane.
What am I doing to celebrate today? Not much really, except going to work. That's not really celebrating Star Wars though now is it? Well, we do have Star Wars merchandise at this particular job of mine, so maybe I'll pick myself up something spesh-ul tonight. That'd be swell.
Otherwise, no chance to watch all six movies today or any time soon for that matter. For me, this whole year is technically the 30th anniversary, this week being sort of the climax, so I'm giving myself a pretty big window for Star Wars celebrations and fan rituals. Keep an eye out for a special saga blog series that
amidalooine and I have been brewing up.
I have my timer set to tape
C4 coverage by G4 this evening starting at 7pm (Eastern - ?). I think they are rerunning the coverage later tonight as well. Also stay tuned for the very cool programming on the History channel for Star Wars on Monday, May 28th. The
site for that is very cool. Get a call from the dark side, enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win tix to Celebration Europe! - and other really cool stuff. They'll be airing
Legacy Revealed back to back with
Star Wars Tech throughout the night, thankfully - because it officially starts at 9pm/8 Central which conflicts with a two hour
On the Lot (In case you haven't heard of that, it's got Carrie Fisher as a regular judge, so check it out!). Everyone lock your s-foils in attack position!
Also on G4, the video game show X-Play has been airing a Star Wars tribute edition which highlights all the more recent Lucasarts games, an interview with
The Force Unleashed program director Hayden Blackman, and some great costuming by the hosts Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler. I gotta say, Adam makes one nice Lando.

They recap some great Star Wars skits they've done over the years. Great stuff. If there is one channel that really promotes Star Wars, it's G4. They usually repeat these things throughout the week, so check your local scheduling and set your VCRs and DVRs to stun.
Bonnie and the folks who run starwars.com have been keeping us updated and sharing
a ton of pictures from C4, and
a sweet blog with video and stories. Thanks!
I'm so thankful for everyone at C4 who has been making the effort to keep communications open to us stuck at home. A special shout out goes to
DJ Maul for going through great lengths in keeping everyone connected at C4, both those attending and those of us at home. That webcam chat party was hilarious last night! Next time, bring an adapter for your laptop and an extra light though - k?
The Force is with us all... always.
