It's that time of year again, and thanks to a very special franchise from a galaxy far, far, away... Valentine's day doesn't make me gag so much anymore. There's a ton of Star Wars fun to be had, and a few things are making this year a little extra special.
First, I wanted to send the same Valentine greetings I send every year to all my fellow fans:
A very Something Awful, Very Star Wars Valentine. Remember, a couple of those are not quite appropriate for younger kids. I like to do this a day early to help remind everyone to send out their own Star Wars Valentine. "You shut down all the garbage compactors... in my heart" will always be my fave.
But there's oh so much more Star Wars goodness!
I've already stocked up on way more Star Wars chocolate goodies from Target then I should have, including a sweet Vader mug filled with chocolate and some awesome chocolate filled collectible tins, and I'm still using up the Star Wars Valentine cards from last year, but this year there's a new batch out,
as announced on starwars.com earlier. Off to Walgreens I go!
Of course, home made Star Wars Valentines are all that much more special, like
this great potato stamping and character art print out idea posted in the sw.com craft section.
The incredible artist that is Grant Gould also made up some very awesome little (or big) Star Wars Valentines
posted over at his blog for fans to print and give! "You could use a good kiss" is definitely getting printed and hung up somewhere.
You can send a very steamy Star Wars e-Valentine or two thanks to Blue Harvest
from here, and that reminds me that I'll have to watch
The Empire Strikes Back again just to enjoy the best on screen romance ever! I'm not talking about the droids here peeps.
EU fans can indulge in a couple of Valentine treats. A few years ago, Del Rey posted an exclusive Valentine short story:
Star Wars Judge's Call by Timothy Zahn. For Han and Leia lovers, you can dig up
A Valentine Story/Breaking the Ice. I think both of these could be read to that special Star Wars fan in your life whilst snuggling up by the fire.
For any of you in love with your
Star Wars Galaxies game,
Sony announced a special Valentine treat will be in store for you when you travel to the Ewok city of Theed starting today.
Anyone going to the
Star Wars: Where Science Meets the Imagination exhibit at The Franklin Institute in Philly on February 15th? If you do, wear anything Star Wars and you'll get
$2 off admission for a special Valentine's event involving their world famous human heart walk-through. Not sure what that entails exactly, but if you go be sure to post some pictures for us!
And last but certainly not least is not necessarily a Star Wars Valentine, but an
Indy Valentine! The Indy 4 trailer will be shown in theaters starting tomorrow - February 14th, but not before it is aired during ABC's
Good Morning America that morning between 8 and 9am...
and the Indy trailer should be posted to
indianajones.com later that day as well (even though I had heard it may not be up at indy.com until 12:01am on the 15th).
To make it even more exciting and worthwhile, the movie
Jumper, starring our very own Hayden Christensen and Sammy Jackson, starts tomorrow. I think I'll be going to that and looking out for that trailer
That's all for now. You all hold the WooKEY to my heart!
