What I love about the Star Wars films, even though there's a huge sense of closure with Episode III, is that with each plot point in each film accounted for or neatly tidied up by it's subsequent sequel, more questions are created and left unanswered. The power of these movies is that for better or worse, they inspire debate and of course spark imagination which is always a good thing. I direct to you now to Abel Pena's 'dissertation' on the misunderstood and maligned Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader as seen in Revenge of the Sith....

If that doesn't bake your noodle and make you want to rush out and see the film again then you might as well save your allowance and go check out Batman in a few weeks.
Deadwood - my favorite series right now since Carnivale. HBO is just kicking butt and taking names these days. Friends that know me know I'm a huge geek with genre stuff like horror and sci-fi but I'm even a big fan of westerns with Unforgiven and Tombstone being two of my favorite flicks. Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant are the two main reasons I've been tuning in each week to catch this show though. These are such great characters, both are entirely three dimensional, convincingly conflicted while one is superbly understated and the other menacingly over the top, larcenous, devious (and who talks to a severed head of an Indian in a box). This show doesn't pull any punches and I'm not just talking about the colorful language. This is as epic and cinematic as anything you'll find in the theatre these days. Throw in great character actors like Brad Dourif and Powers Booth (to name only a few) and you get plenty of standouts who are good, bad and just about everything in between. I just caught the season finale tonight for the third time now...
