Motor City Comic Con, Where Science Meets Imagination Update, Spike Vs. Dracula #3 & New Star Wars Art!
This weekend, May 19th-21st, I'll be appearing at the Motor City Comic Con in Novi, Michigan with Justin of World Famous Comics.com (Star Wars sketch card artist and real life model for my Expanded Universe Jedi character, Kai Justiss). You can find us selling artwork, sketching for fans, signing and generally hanging out in Artist Alley. Be sure to stop by our table at the show and say hi.

Other Star Wars guests include Matt Wood (General Grievous from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith), Dave Barclay (Jabba The Hutt puppeteer), fellow Star Wars artist Dave Dorman and my pal John Jackson Miller, writer for Dark Horse Comics' Knights of the Old Republic series.

Karen Allen (Marion Ravenwood) from Raiders of the Lost Ark will be there too!

Don't forget to bring along your copies of my new series from IDW Publishing, Spike Vs. Dracula, if you'd like me to sign those for you also! I just updated my Spike Vs. Dracula gallery with new artwork from issue #3 so be sure to have a look.

I've also updated my Star Wars Sketchbook gallery with artwork I recently created for a new Hasbro project featuring the following characters from the Original Trilogy -

Chewbacca
Darth Vader
Han Solo (in Stormtrooper disguise)
Rebel Fleet Trooper
Stormtrooper
Governor Tarkin

On June 2nd I'll be appearing as a special guest for the premiere of the new exhibit, Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, at COSI right here in Columbus, Ohio. Jeremy Bulloch, Boba Fett himself, will be appearing as well along with the 501st, Rebel Legion and my pals from the OSWCC. There will be appetizers, drinks, music, the film Fighter Pilot on the 7-story Extreme Screen Theater, an exclusive meet-and-greet with exhibit designer Ed Rodley and of course the amazing and interactive exhibit itself.

All tickets for premiere night are $40 per person. Click here to order your tickets today!

I'm currently creating brand new, full color artwork as a limited edition print for this special premiere event. Unfortunately, it will only be available to VIP guests through the museum themselves so I suggest keeping your eyes peeled on eBay after premiere night if you're really wanting one. But in the meantime feel free check out this sneak preview for the artwork in my Star Wars sketchbook.

Also, on June 24th I'll be teaching a "Learn to Draw Star Wars Characters" workshop for kids. Here's the press release from the museum -

What: NEW! Learn to Draw Star Wars Characters Workshop
Wish you could draw Star Wars characters like you see in the movies? Learn cartoon and drawing basics from Joe Corroney, a professional illustrator who's created official Star Wars artwork.

When: Saturday, June 24, 11am-12pm OR 12:30-1:30pm
Cost: $5 per child. Recommended for ages 6-12.

614.228.COSI (Mon-Sat, 9-4pm)

I'll be appearing with my Star Wars art throughout the exhibit's run from June 3rd to September 4th so keep your eyes peeled on my appearance schedule at my official site.

In other Star Wars news, I was recently interviewed by Frank Parisi for Star Wars Insider #87. This issue is on stands now so be sure to pick one up soon (if you're not already a subscriber to Hyperspace) and let me know what you think.

I hope everyone enjoys this new artwork and I look forward to seeing some of you at Motor City Comic Con this weekend and at the upcoming Star Wars exhibit premiere in Columbus!

Wow - That Science Meets the Imagination premier ticket is a steal at $40. The opening gala in Boston was $500... but it was a black tie event and well, George Lucas was there and all. Lots of great stuff going on here. Have a blast and great work.

Bah, naturally the weekend where I have loads to do is the one where Comic Con is a mere 45 minute drive (provided construction isn't too bad :p )

Maybe if things alter a bit I can swing out and check out Artist Alley :)

Joe, I just picked up Spike vs. Dracula #3 and noticed that the art looked pointedly different. Trying something new? It was a cool change of pace.

On second viewing, it looks like the first half of the issue was drawn by Jeff Dabu and you penciled the second half. Right?

Hi Brian! Good to hear from you and thanks for picking up S Vs. D #3. I was only responsible for the cover and 11 pages of art for this issue because of some unforeseen complications with personal life at the time. Jeff Dabu was my co-inker on that issue but I'm not sure who the other artist is on the other 11 pages. He's mistakenly uncredited I believe since he was a last minute fill-in.
