In two weeks I'll be appearing at
Comic Con International in San Diego, California from July 19th to July 23rd. You can find me at table FF-01 in Artist Alley with Star Wars sketch card artist and
World Famous Comics.com creator Justin Chung. We'll be sketching, signing and selling plenty of Star Wars art so stop by and say hi or throw tasty perishables, bottled water and other food items at us like wild animals if you get the chance.
We'll actually be arriving for Comic Con early afternoon on the 19th for Preview Night, which also happens to be Justin's birthday so if you see him at the show be sure to wish him a happy birthday. And actually the day before we leave for SD, it will be my birthday on the 18th. Coincidence... or something more? Read the
Time Life book to find out.
On Thursday July 20th at 7:30 PM
Zombie Prom will be showing at Comic-Con as part of the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival. I provided original artwork that appears throughout the film and along with Star Wars artists Justin, Jan Duursema and ZP Art Director Tom Mandrake we created a "comic book in the movie"-- an homage to the EC horror and romance comics of the '50s. We'll all be attending along with the film's director, Vince Marcello, and we would love to see you there! Another reason to check out Zombie Prom Thursday night at the con is that the sound design, editorial and mix were completed at Skywalker Sound

And a panel with Tom and Vince is also being planned after the screening too.
Zombie Prom won the Indie Soul Best Picture Award in the Short Film category at the
Boston International Film Festival on June 15th. That's ZP's second win following up the Best Short Film Award at the
Palm Beach International Film Festival earlier this April.
The film is "kid friendly" so feel free to bring your own little convention zombies to the screening after you watch the trailer
right here.
On Saturday night July 22nd after the con at 10 p.m. I'll be checking out
The Killer Robots! with
The Spots opening at the Zombie Lounge (More zombies? Another coincidence or something more...?). I
blogged previously about how I saw both of these bands perform in SD last year during Comic-Con and it was such great experience. The Spots blew me away and The Killer Robots were just... a surreal experience. Take a look
here to see what I mean. I'm looking forward to seeing them kick some butt again

The ZL is located at 3519 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92104 just a few blocks away from the convention center.
Besides Justin and Jan, other SW creators appearing for Comic-Con include my friends
Abel Peņa,
Dan Wallace,
John Jackson Miller and
Chris Trevas. If you can't find them in the expanse of Comic-Con then stop by my table in artist Alley at FF-01 and just ask for directions or you might even bump into them there.
Also, I'll be premiering my new
JoeCorroney.com Sketchbook Volume II at Comic-Con. This new, square bound, 8 1/2" x 11" edition features color front and back covers with over 40+ interior pages of original sketches and pen and ink artwork. They will be in limited supply for this show so be sure to stop by and purchase one if you're interested. You can check out a sneak preview of the cover in my Stuff to Buy section at my official site
right here. Special thanks to my good pal and sketchbook co-creator
Jeff Wedding.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of you soon at Comic-Con!
By the way, before Comic-Con, Justin and I will be appearing as guests for the
OSWCC Summer Social on July 15th. They're one of the best and friendliest SW fan clubs out there so be sure to check out their website and learn more about their fun community.

I was recently interviewed in my studio about my Star Wars artwork for the local cable affiliate station WOSU-TV and their show called
ArtZine, a television magazine featuring local art organizations, activities and artists. The show is a unique collaboration between WOSU and the Greater Columbus Arts Council designed to develop greater appreciation of the cultural opportunities available in central Ohio. Previous features have included the Columbus Arts Festival, musicians, muralists, sculptors, painters, mimes and actors.
Here are the dates and times this month that you can check out the program if you're interested (and if you receive WOSU-TV in Ohio) --
Wednesday July 5th 7:30pm
Saturday July 8th 2:30pm
Sunday July 9th Noon
Wednesday July 12th 10:30pm
Sunday July 23rd 11:00pm
Sunday July 30th 12:30pm

As I reported in
my last blog entry, I recently wrapped up new Star Wars artwork for
Star Wars Insider #89. The tentative title for the feature in which my artwork appears is
"Underworld: A Galaxy of Scum and Villainy" and it's written by
Ryan Kaufman and my frequent partner in crime, Abel Peņa. I had so much fun illustrating for this project and can't wait for everyone to see it.
During the premiere weekend of
Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination at the beginning of June I took advantage of all of the excellent costumes worn by the members of the
501st and
Rebel Legion and shot a ton of great photo reference which I utilized for this new assignment. In fact, I even called up some of my other friends who weren't at the exhibit to don their costumes as reference models and pitch in for me. As a result, these upcoming illustrations probably have by far the most actual Legion members who I've worked with at one time for a specific Star Wars project. And with their help I think I've probably created some of my best Star Wars work for Insider to date. I hope you guys think so too so be sure to check out "Underworld" when
Star Wars Insider #89 ships later in August or
sign up for Hyperspace today so you're sure not to miss out.
By the way, expect to see appearances by Han, Xizor, BoShek, Zam, Boushh, a certain Order 66 survivor and Ryan's
favorite bounty hunting whipping boy... to name just a few

I'm putting the final touches on new poster artwork for the upcoming XBox video game "Destroy All Humans! 2" (shipping this Fall). I'm a gamer geek (XBox 360 currently) in my spare time so this was a really fun project to tackle. The artwork prominently features everyone's favorite homicidal alien, Crypto Sporidian 137, and in the game players will embark as Crypto on another mission to Earth to obliterate a world now deep into free love, the Cold War and other 60's era history. Also, players will have access to an upgraded arsenal of weapons and enhanced mental abilities while they battle a variety of new enemies from secret agents and giant creatures to Soviet Forces, ninja warriors and... hippies.
Keep your eyes peeled in my
Comic Book Misc. Art gallery to check out this new artwork soon.

I recently had the chance to see Nine Inch Nails perform in concert here in Columbus, Ohio last week and you can read all about it in my latest blog at my
MySpace.com profile. And speaking of Nine Inch Nails, be sure to check out this super cool
Star Wars Rocks interview with former NIN guitarist and Filter (another absolutely *favorite* band of mine) front man, Richard Patrick -
Hey Han, Nice Shot: Richard Patrick
I hope everyone is having a great summer so far and enjoyed their Fourth of July holiday weekend. I'll be back to post again when I'm decompressed after Comic-Con.
