Wednesday One-Liners
The Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit is now making its final stop at the Science Museum of Minnesota... afterwards, it returns to Los Angeles for just one day, so that R2-D2 and C-3PO can finally tie the knot.

A website allowing users to create their own text crawls was quickly shut down by Lucasfilm -- apparently, George Lucas holds the sole copyright on Awesome.

Speaking of legal Lucas, Uncle George visited Capitol Hill yesterday, and made a plea for free broadband internet access in public schools. He also warned Congress that they're either with him or they're his enemy, then shouted "Vote now! Vote now!"

The first photos were released of a Lego Death Star playset... it's pretty cool, but will reportedly cost $400. Four hundred? You could almost buy your own ship for that!

Finally, starwars.com recently updated its homepage to promote the upcoming Clone Wars movie... the fan community promptly responded by saying "Holy crap! TheForce.net changed its banner!"

Hmmm...I guess R2 will no longer be sticking his device into strange computers...

And broadband should be free for public schools. Kindergarteners deserve the right to access #### just like the rest of us!

I think that site would be OK if they just changed their name..maybe something like spacecrawl.com

No surprise, they serve all kinds there. :D

But when they're online, they better not make their own SW crawls!

Hmmm.... buy SW Legos, or pay the rent.... decisions, decisions..... :p

I saw Lucas on Capital Hill. I was flipping channels and saw him and thought, "Oh, no! Now they've got Lucas on trial!" I mean we've seen our military and sports heroes put on trial by our Congress and I've been wondering, what's next? I thought they would go for firemen, but they selected Lucas instead.

:^O I keep coming back to this blog to read that line over and over. I can see it now, George starting the chant, then members slowly join in until President Bush walks in and says, "Hey guys, I still got until January!" (Hey, I'm not bashing Bush, I actually like him)

Zing!

And broadband should be free for public schools. Kindergarteners deserve the right to access #### just like the rest of us!

Ha! You're beating me at my own game!

I think that site would be OK if they just changed their name..maybe something like spacecrawl.com

I wonder if you're right. Those cease-and-desist letters can be pretty intimidating.

But when they're online, they better not make their own SW crawls!

:^O Wish I'd thought of that...

Hmmm.... buy SW Legos, or pay the rent.... decisions, decisions.....

The good news is, that thing looks big enough to live in...

Huh?

I saw Lucas on Capital Hill. I was flipping channels and saw him and thought, "Oh, no! Now they've got Lucas on trial!"

Isn't there a book which tries to do that? I flipped through it once, and wasn't impressed.

These are hilarious!

Woo hoo! :)

R2 and C3PO can finally tie the knot: now that's an interesting concept.

Truth is, R2's been avoiding commitment for years...

Droids marrying droids? How perverse!

Ahoy!

I completely forgot about this.

I wish I could quit YouTube... :D

And fit their restraining bolts.

Ha! That IS a better term for "wedding ring," now that ya mention it...

I can almost hear Milton Berle saying them now.

Waitasec, isn't he dead?

Thank the Maker! Another candidate.

He's too smart to run for office. ;)

I can see it now, George starting the chant, then members slowly join in until President Bush walks in and says, "Hey guys, I still got until January!"

I always feel bad for Presidents in their final term. Lame duckage must suck...

iMovie has a title style called 'far far away' that creates a crawl effect. But it is also packaged with sound effects from Skywalker Sound. In for a penny, in for a pound I guess.

Isn't the nature of one-liners supposed to be just one line?

These were quite good, Stooge (even if each was longer than one line ;)). :^O

Okay, look at that picture of George again....is it just me, or does it look like that emblem above his head is shining down on him???

I'll have to look into it, thanks! I wonder what they're doing that hasn't incurred that wrath of Lucasfilm?

Isn't the nature of one-liners supposed to be just one line?

I suppose... but I just always imagine them as one spoken line. For example: Henny Youngman, the king of one-liners, told many jokes which weren't really just a single sentence long.

But hey, lemme know what I should be calling these gags! I'm happy to change the wording.

Aha! Now I gotcha.

Okay, look at that picture of George again....is it just me, or does it look like that emblem above his head is shining down on him???

My wife noted how it was a rather unflattering shot of him. But hey, at least he looks happy!

Now, if only George had visited Capitol Hill dressed as Palpatine would he make it even better.

Honestly, of everyone in the saga, his hair most closely resembles Palpy's! :D

What does the auto censor have against p o r n?

Oh, that's a classic. But in the autocensor's defense, at least I can now write "circumstance." Not long ago, that word was considered very, very dirty.
