This week is the 30th anniversary of the "
Star Wars Holiday Special," the only TV show in history which managed to be both non-denominational and universally offensive.
No word yet on whether they're releasing a Holiday Special "Making of" book... but keep those fingers crossed!
For the anniversary, starwars.com dug up an amazing
interview which claims that George Lucas originally planned to have Han Solo married to a Wookiee. And you just know that right now, somewhere in California, someone's trying to make that illegal.
Another stunning bit of
history: the original Holiday Special director wanted to cast Robin Williams. Just think about that for a moment. We could have had a Mork action figure!
And fans are already griping about this week's Clone Wars episode, which stars Jar Jar. But don't worry, I'm sure that in thirty years, those same folks will be
voting to have it shown at the Paley Center.
