I just don't get it.
I'm talking about the much hyped and publicized
Race for the Fan Club Presidency.
How can someone, who has the support of two websites, plus having a blog on SW.com have gotten over 100 votes! And be in the lead by 20 votes over someone who has the support of the community?
Everyone knows my candidate. He's got the support of over 30 well visited websites. Plus he's got years in the Fan Community. People know him, both in person and from his postings on the inter-web.
Who's this other guy? Where did he come from? How is he getting all these votes? A local leader of our Fan Club, who is well liked and supported in the local community has less than 10 votes -- And he has the support of an organization of over 150 members with ties to other major websites and groups.
So what gives?
Personally, given statements that were made publically (and later retracted) this is not someone I want representing the club -- even as a figurehead. Heck! What's it cost to send someone from LA to San Diego for Comic Con? Big Whoop! They could drive.
As a graduate of the USC film school (yup. Been there. Done That!) I am disheartened by the apparent disparity in what I hear in the community and what I see occurring in the "election".
Stay tuned!
